I have to say that the way he has applied himself and improved in the last couple of years has been of great credit to him. I never rated him and always thought he got caught out of position and gave away dangerous free kicks all the time, but he's cut down on both these. His reading of the game has improved greatly, and he is currently worthy of his place.
Now if only he can chip in with a few goals...
