Hibbert & Osman

Osman proved last season that he is far from a Championship player to be honest, when he was given a run of games in his natural position he was a breath of fresh air and we played our best football. He does a good job there and is consistent. Those who judge him fairly would've see this, those who can't see past the hate won't.

Outwide he is frustrating, he doesn't suit the role and naturally struggles. That's what happens when you play a centre midfielder on the wing, especially one that lacks pace and strength.

I have no problem with people saying he needs to be replaced, there's no doubting that and I hope that is the case next season. People who he's a Championship player simply haven't got a clue.

What I've noticed and comparing him to Pienaar, who's not a natrual winger, Pienaar has the ability to cut inside and do his magic and is (for a light weight player) is stronger than Ossie to keep the ball when he does that....or atleast get a foul.

Ossie cant hit the wing, beat a player and then cut inisde or just cut inside and do something. He's a central player that like the space of getting the ball, turning left/right/forward/backwards and doing something.

Given slapped Gosling I think it was after he went for the ball after closing the keeper down . Dnagerous play is dangerous play and if Felly did that he would have gone no doubt . We were absoluetly awful today . I am still livid now writing this . I know I should be happy with what is around the corner but I cannot help feeling p****d off .
I would feel much better if I knew we had a bigger squad to play in europe, the league maintaining a high position ie attempting to go for champions league, fa cup and carling cup..i am really very concerned on the size of our squad

Agreed, if we hadnt have got knocked out the Uefa and Carling 1st round, I highly doubt we would going to Wembley and riding high in the league.

You certainly are on fire tonight. Once again, 100% agreed.(y)

Your right mate getting knocked out of the Carling Cup was a blessing . I really do not know what happened today . It was a very strange affair . I would love to play that game again . Our midfield just didnt turn up . Who lobbed that bottle at Ireland ? Was it Cal ?

Its one thing to praise osman but the irrifutible facts are he is incapable of playing against the bigger teams..which says to me he is a lower league player...i never meant championship, he is too good for there :p but he'd be an instant hit haha

Still If anything I'd keep him on the squad as a squad player only, nothing else..ie he is a fringe player who will rarely get on..and in the mean time get a right winger, get back up for arteta when he is injured..my only real concern is where do you play cahill outside of the 442 successfully? behind the hole of fellaini and whoever else is uptop?

Pienaar plays on the left so it's a little easier, he's naturally cutting onto his stronger foot when he cuts inside. Osman plays on the right so he'll always have the ball under control closer to the touch line which doesn’t help, he gets crowded out.

Osman’s game is all about close control, twisting and turning and keeping the ball as close as possible to him. It’s the only way he can play or bigger, stronger and quicker athletes will have the ball off him no problem. Which is why he’s suited to central positions, he can go both ways and has more room to work with.

Same with Arteta really, we all saw how even quality players like him can struggle out of position. There’s only one way to go when you play wide right.

That and the fact that Pienaar is about ten times quicker!

but why is ossie better against crapper teams compared to better teams in the prem? peanuts puts in a shift I cant say the same for ossie, though i would love to. If its because better athletes skin him alive, then surely it means he is a mediocre squad player who shouldnt even be on the pitch lol

Ossie is confusing as hell, play him inside midfield where he still goes missing against the better teams, so why does moyse typically try to play him outside right when he cant play there?

Pienaar is the best player we have at this time . Watch next season who he guides us to victory . I kid you not this bloke is going to be an Everton legend

Just a question for you mate, how many times has Osman played against the "top four" in his natural position? He usually ends up playing on the wing because of injuries to other players or because certain players are in form (Arteta and Neville).

The last time he played centre midfield against a top team was against Arsenal away, he gave a decent account of himself and scored our only goal on the day. He was the second best player on the park against Fiorentina also.

Other than that I’m struggling, he usually gets shifted outwide and we all know he struggles out there. That’s nothing new. Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture.

I understand that, but why does moyse knowingly throw him out wide when he cant play there? i know needs must but that is like playing with 10 men
