Hello everyone,
I'm a blue from Oz, born in Singapore. I grew up in Singapore with a pretty football mad extended family, so I was hooked very early on. I was very much a little tomboy, and probably still am. The first game I ever remember watching was when I was about 5 or 6, Spurs vs Everton. Dad goes for Spurs so naturally, being the very competitive child I was, I plumped immediately for Everton. Football has been a huge part of my life since, and most of my fondest childhood memories revolve around football in some way.
After moving to Australia 8 years ago, I lost touch with a lot of this and stopped watching football almost entirely. There was a lot of upheaval in my life during that period and somehow, rather unfortunately, football took a back seat. Rediscovering my love for Everton just over 3 years ago has been one of the best things that has happened to me. When I was going through bad periods of depression and anxiety, Everton was something to look forward to every week (plus we were playing scintillating football in 2013), and it wasn't just those 2 hours of the game where I could escape from numbness and loneliness, because reading all the build up-press, interviews and things every day gave my mind harmless, little fissions of happy somethings to occupy my day with. Watching the game whilst scrolling through the match threads on GOT, I felt like I was a part of a little community. This forum has been a great source of comfort and entertainment to me - my favourites are the depression thread (for the support), the youth team thread (for the optimism) and the match previews (for the bantz).
Anyway, that's me. I've been lurking for a few years now, what's tipped me over to post is news that I've been given an opportunity to travel to Europe at the end of the year - an absolute dream for me as I've never been! I can't wait to visit the UK, and will be trying to get to as many Everton games as possible. Would be a pleasure to meet some of you over there, and going to try to be more involved here as well.
xx
