Player Valuation: £950k
The results in Europe on Thursday and some stats I've been thinking about...

We've won (or drawn) 95% of the games Heitinga's played in this season.

We've only lost by one goal difference when he has played in 5% of the games.

We've only lost heavily in Europe or the league before Heitinga was introduced at Centre Back as a permanent fixture.

Looking at Yobo - continually hitting floating long balls on Thursday always his first option, showed me the HUGE difference between him and Heitinga.

Heitinga has what I'd term a "footballing brain". He thinks about what he's doing and aims for people with pacey balls - but with precision too. Not perfect, but they're generally very good.

He also slows the game down to take pressure off the midfield when he can and allow players to take up new positions and knows (which is crucial in Europe) that possession is key and knows when to keep possession. Our defeat on Thursday was all about us being unable to keep consistent possession, not helped by consistent Yobo hoofs.

Frankly with someone as quality as Heitinga, he's had a huge huge huge part in turning our season around - especially in the league.

He's kept Drogba, Rooney quiet and others.

All in all Heitinga and (a fully fit Jags) are head and shoulders the best two players at the back at the club.

Jags because he reads the game ahead - and is/was more pacey than Heitinga

Heitinga because he can pass and distribute and uses the ball.

The thought of Jags and Heitinga at the back - for Everton made me feel better about Lisbon.

They are our / Moyes' first choice I would say at the back.

Just lost for words with Yobo at the moment. Its now no surprise he cant get ahead of Distin or Heitinga.

Its all about "footballing brains" - not all about the manager as some STUPID bellend "Everton" website writers have been writing. ******* ****s only write when they want a moan, usually to blame Moyes for global warming and 9/11.

Moyes has shown me the future. I'm a huge Heitinga admirer now, its funny you don't realise it happening (as he does it quietly in games doens't he?)...

Its all because he thinks about what he's doing when he's in a blue shirt.

Jags and Heitinga all the way for me.

I think Yobo will either get sold or will always be 3rd choice CB.

What I found funny on Thursday was...he didnt really panic on the ball, he went of mazey runs out of defence sometimes.

Problem being, when he did that he got carried away and didnt do what he's good at...clear the effing ball.

He's a bit all over the shop.

Heitinga is 100% class.

HEITINGA
HEITINGA
HE WILL STOP YOU
HE WILL DROP YOU
NO-ONE CAN COMPARE TO JOHNNY HEITINGA

 nah I am being serious.

I've read "moyes got it wrong" "moyes tactically inept"

"moyes..." this "moyes" that

Frankly, no wonder Yobo's not been in the team.

Moyes absolutely no way I don't think wanted the ineffectual Yobo balls.

It was enforced on us, Heitinga for me is pushing Fellaini close for player of the season.

Just can't believe some of the bile written on some everton "blogs" and websites right now.

Lisbon wasn't a mistake in tactics. It was due to unavailability of personel.

Yobo might get away with some of what he's been doing in the Premier League where Cahill's fighting up top.

But not in Europe.

And Everton only play possession football - which we know Moyes wants - when the personel are available. Some players we have won't play it. lack of ability?

Yobo may be an athlete but this inability to play possession football cost us. Thats not Moyes fault. I think with more funds available a change would have been made earlier. And will be now - in the summer.

Heitinga with his European experience wouldn't have done what Yobo did.

What Yobo did (contrary to the manager's instructions I believe) kept playing suicide balls.

I'd have Jagielka, Heitinga and Distin above Yobo to be honest. Even Distin, who's distribution isn't great, makes the short pass when it's available. Yobo seems to love hoofing the ball, he just lacks composure big time.

There's one notorious website - with it's latest anti-Moyes post on NewsNow.

Frankly I'm sick of them.

The personel were to blame.

And Moyes is only limited by his personel.

I don't doubt that had both been available to start. Jags and Heitinga would have been first choice at the back on Thursday.

Yet the pricks have been writing all sorts on the internet! - but the fact is we can't just change personel at the click of the fingers.

Heitinga for me. Purchase of this season the way he's played in Jan and Feb.

Yobo will be gone in the summer unless he shows that he can play a different way, than he has recently.

And the poster above. Yes I guess it is a lack of composure. But also "footballing brains".

These players have their own decisions to make in the game. You can't expect Moyes to do it all for them on the sidelines.

Heitinga has footballing brains in abundance...

and it makes me sad that Yobo's been doing what he has. Sad for him.

I'm surprise non of our coaching staff can coach yobo out of his hoofing. 8years of hoofing and no one realise it's not working?

A long pass can work, but when its 100% of the passes he's making its ineffectual.

I don't doubt they've tried.

Moyes was ******* furious on the sidelines and after the game.

the ******s on the internet can write on their websites what they want.

but Moyes has cut players out and sold on when he's took them as far as they can or don't follow instructions.

As for some of the bile posted about Moyes, they can **** off frankly. Some of these websites only post stuff when they're having a go at Everton and the manager. When we're winning they don't! ****s!:@

Anyway. Yes. big fan of Heitinga now. Natural, even lacking height his ability to pick a pass from the back brings a new dimension to Everton on many years. We've got Jags who reads the game. And Johnny who can pick a pass.

So you're saying they've tried but Yobo can't be arse to listen.
Moyes should get rid of him years ago, something is wrong somewhere.

Well he's been dropped to the bench and I very much doubt he'll start ahead of Distin and Heitinga...

If Jags is on the bench instead of Yobo tomorrow you know he'll be gone.

How do you coach composure though?

Its very difficult to say keep the ball only for them to get caught in possession and for us to concede.

You can do it but takes time, and is very confidence related and can equally be lost quickly.

Lescott at City is a perfect example of the reverse.

Wonder if the stat guys have any figures for the cummulative distance that joey hoofs it each week ?
The new balls are very springy and if you get to 'lace' one then it does feel good to hump it one, but ffs he gets to do it every day, you'd think the novelty would be wearing off by now. Has anybody noticed if he shakes his head in disbelief and says, "feck me these new balls fly" after he has gone for a 40-20 ?

Heit does loads of long balls as well, only diffrence is they land at Saha.
Saha goal against pompy, his goal and near miss against Chelsea an Bily goal(v utd) came off Heit long pass to Saha.

Yobo wasn't helped by the fact the midfield couldn't hold the ball.

I agree Heits is a massive player for us.

He varies it though too.

Against United he was moving it about in the defence and numerous occassions Osman came deep to pick it up.

Yobo just doesn't think.

Heitinga gets the ball and thinks about what he's doing.

It's not about coaching composure, it's about coaching them how to pass the ball and the choice of passing. It can be drill into their mindset thus creating a habit out of it.
