Having the Bottle to drop players!!

Distin lukaku and barry.... and I would start garbutt ahead of baines for stoke.... just to get the message across that no one is undroppable, you need to perform at 100% to get a start.... players wouldn't be long getting the finger out then

Dropping Lukaku isn't the answer. We need to change the system. Who else in the league...or even in europe plays 2 dmf EVERY GAME? Fair enough if your away to chelsea or Arsenal etc but to keep that same formation every single time is wrong. Teams are onto us, we have no shape, no directness. Its awful to watch and Martinez needs to change it quickly or we're in danger of replacing West ham in the league. Its already started.
442 diamond:
McCarthy and Barkley in midfield
Besic and Eto'o behind and infront
Lukaku up top
Baines and Coleman can bomb forward and create the width if need be but we don't score from crosses so jib the wingers off, at least untill Mirrallas is back. Sort it out Roberto ffs

Agree with you in changing the system, but players need a kick up the a**e as well, too many too comfortable. It's amazing what being dropped can do to a player. Even if its not a conscious thing, there are too many just going through the motions, knowing they are guaranteed a starting spot

I thought the team yesterday was a bizarre selection before the off, no width at all and Eto'o again in a position he will be no use in. Barkley and Besic were good together on Monday so why bring Barry back?

Can't wait for Stones to get fit so Distin can be benched, lad has gone sadly but has been a good servant over the years. Agree with others about Kone getting a star, looked lively against Krasnodar and should be given a chance, Rom looks so out of it this season so give him a couple of weeks off to freshen up and come back with fire in his belly.

Lukaku shouldn't be anywhere near the starting eleven on form. But when you pay £28m for a player at Everton then it doesn't matter if he's Beattie level of awfulness, the manager has to play him.

Lukaku is a popular figure of hate for some fans. He's still banged in a decent amount of goals considering the piss poor service he's had from his team mates.

The likes of Barry, Distin, Howard and Baines in recent weeks have been the major problem, not Lukaku.

Lukaku will go on to be a great player. Whether that will be at Everton is unclear but if he is given the chance to put one away, 9 times out of 10 he will. People can mention his bad first touch and I would agree with them that he seriously needs to improve in that area. But what the moaners don't ever account for is that half the time the balls being played to him are terrible. Baines hit one to Barkley (I think it was him) yesterday. Literally smashed it at him with a player behind him. How are they supposed to control them types of passes?

One aspect of Lukaku's game that I can't defend at the moment is the lethargic chasing down of the ball though. He needs to wake up a bit when he's playing and graft more for the team. He's capable of doing it on occasions but too often he's flat footed trotting around and not using the aggression that he has.

Lukaku is just as much of a problem as Barry, Distin & Baines etc due to that lethargic trotting around that he does, it sets a tone for the team if he is just jogging around looking uninterested, the very least I would expect of a 28M player is running and effort. His fitness seems an issue as well as he always looks really knackered after a full game, much more than other players.

Barry needs dropping with immediate affect, he has been abysmal and seems to have aged over the Summer, much like Distin. He seems 2 yards slower and his passing has been slow and ponderous.

Baines needs dropping for Garbutt until he sorts his head out

Stones needs to come in straight away for Distin

I'd also drop Howard for Robles, and even though I think Robles is a bit dodgy it will send out a Firm message to Howard that he can't just be guaranteed a place.

You can't drop the whole team..and lets face it, there's nobody really performing at the moment...I include the likes of Coleman, Jags and Barkley
in that.
Players don't become poor overnight so it's either got to be down to fatigue, confidence or the system they are playing..I would suggest a combination of the three, with the third one having a massive impact on the first two.
An International break rather than the Christmas fixtures would probably suit about now...and I normally hate International breaks!

Stones for distin is a given. I'd also drop baines for the stoke game.hes been the best left back at the club in my time and im not saying he's finished but he's woefully out of form and has been for a while. Oviedo was 1 of our better players last season lets give him a try
