Have we lost our passion?

It's not the fans who have lost their passion. We all love this club, it really is rooted deep within. However, we express it accordingly in response to what we get in return. We demand and expect the same passion on the pitch. When we don't get that, it begins to feel like we're just flogging a dead horse, albeit passionately! Being an Everton fan would not be as frustrating as it is if we didn't have passion. As fans, all we can do is express our passion through vocal support in numbers. The rest is up to the players.

As for the players, they need to be seen to be playing with passion, like giving it their all, challenging for every ball, showing grit, never giving up and always working for each other. Some people blame the money for taking the passion out of the players, well, the money is not going to go away any time soon. So, the only way you are going to drum up passion in a squad these days is to force competition for places. It is no coincidence that the teams with the big squads have more success and this is not just about providing cover. Players want to play, especially the more competitive ones, the ones who care about their career. First team selection is the only pressure a manager can apply. Unfortunately, our squad is as depleted as their passion. We really need to spend big, shake up the dressing room and sort out the worthy from the worthless. Only then will you see some semblance of passion return to the field.

I think it will be better this Saturday. 3 p.m. kick off, and a game we have got to win, as we head into December and the derby looms.

The Premier League has destroyed football. We are now charged obscene prices to watch the match and this has priced out a lot of our fans. Some fans who still go do so with a more entitled attitude then they would of had if the price had been reasonable. Football is a working class sport that has been taken over by the middle class once it became "cool" to go to the match. Until football gets back to its routes match day atmosphere will get worse and worse. Sadly this is unlikely to happen while so much money is being made and the only solution to help the atmosphere would be a singing section. With regards to lack of player passion, again it's all down to money. How do you motivate a multimillionaire to be arsed? They're still going get their wages at the end of the week. I think having more local lads in the side would help in passion if not in quality but even then once they've got a snake of an agent whispering in their ear there's a very good chance they to will lose their passion for anything other then money. A very sad state of affairs that will probably get worse before it even begins to gets better.:(

Sadly, the days of players prepared to die for the cause have long gone mate. Yes there's the odd individual who gives it his all but they're few and far between these days.
Yes they're on too much money but we wouldn't be too quick to complain if they ran through walls to success. We've just had too many players who are crap AND paid too much money.
I can't see it ever changing like.
I seen John Bailey a few months ago in church street , he was just standing there looking lost , I'd heard he had a few problems and wasn't well for those problems. I went over to him and shook his hand and thanked him for giving me my happiest day as a young Everton fan back in may 1984 . He smiled and thanked me . Some of the players of today aren't fit to lace his boots . A legend is bails .

Good on you mate. The players from the past are often the most in need

No. Because if we had, we wouldn't have sold out every league game at Goodison this season.

Can we save these type of threads for if we ever end up like Aston Villa? Because then we'll have something to moan about.

Don't think the passion is gone, just its different these days lots of reasons, no terrace, you cant meet up with your mates inside if there are loads of them, you cant move if your surrounded by bells your mostly stuck next to them now, as you cant just move and get a decent seat/view . kick off times and the general expectance that has crept in over the last decade or so that we cant win anything barring a miracle, the crowd has changed in its makeup as well much more sedate
I used to find myself daydreaming and thinking imagine half this lot in the park end, if it was back about 1978 they would be crying for the coppers to let them out.
My passion for football and Everton has never been lower to be honest but hope the new regime and ground can wake it up again in the future.

I have lost the passion a bit.

It just not in kids like it was when I was younger.

Lads now have footy shirts from 2 or 3 English clubs, its proper saturated.

My lad loves the matches, but prefers playing, and misses a few gams to still play....don't blame him tbh, he still may have a chance of becoming a player.

A lot of players in fact most dont have passion or bottle for the game anymore and I think most of the crowd realise that, how many players today would dive into swinging boots like Lyons did to score against Leeds, how many would do a Reid and stick a sponge down they,re sock ala Bayern, rather roll round for 10 minutes and get stretchered off while his collegues waved imaginary cards round, how many would turn out for a relegation battle then jump on the back of a motorbike to get to the airport?
Theres no real connection between players/fans/clubs plus you have instant demands for success
