I’ve seen quite a lot of sentiment on here of hating the police., and many promoting not “grassing” to the police on criminal matters being a source of pride.

I want to deep dive on this to understand the phenomenon better, thank you.

Poll attached.

Please describe a scenario in which you need the police and they effectively help you, and further, please keep to real life rather than rehashing the plot of one of the countless police dramas from film and television.

I am a football fan with a ticket for a football match, in France. Out of nowhere, a HUGE group of people without tickets come hurtling towards me and barge me out of the way and begin to climb fences. As it isn’t possible for me to fight off such huge numbers on my own, I would like to police to arrive and use tear gas to avert the threat, and help me get safely into the football match that I paid for.

By leaving that to the constabulary you're sending a message to hardworking young African migrants that they have nothing useful to contribute to their new society.

Ok, last year my Son was having an issue with a former friend of his, a much older guy.

He was making threats about burning the house down and coming to the house, so my son rang the police, he was given a restraining order and not allowed in our street. 1 day he walked down our street just as we were coming out, he screamed abuse at us, so I followed him, after I gave him a good hiding he rang the police, who promptly arrested him cos he hit me over the head with a stick. He was prosecuted and we were due to go to court, I declined the court case, due to feeling that I had got my justice.
