Has it all gone a bit wrong?

We weren't on top-form defensively for most of last season, either. How many clean sheets did we manage all season?

As it stands, we have a better squad than last season. There's more depth, too.

Granted, there's time for that to change for the worse - but there's also time for us to get even stronger, too.

We had the fourth best defensive record in the league.

Played Real Madrid and weren't embarrassed without really getting out of 3rd gear, with players not fully fit.

What's gone wrong?

I mean, when does blindly shouting down all critiscm get silly?

"How DARE you have a go at Martinez for us being bottom of the table when he's only had half a season in the job!"

"How DARE you have a go at Martinez for us losing to Liverpool 4-0 when it's only his first Derby!"

"How DARE you have a go at Martinez for selling Fellaini and buying 7 Wigan players. Wigan only went down because these players didn't play that much last season anyway!"

"How DARE you have a go at Martinez for us getting relegated for the first time since the 1950's when he's only had one season in the job!"

And so forth

When will it be okay to criticise him? Can someone send me a memo when it's okay? Cheers lads

Oh God

Every comment even daring to criticse Martinez is going to get this sort of response isn't it?

I think mods should start banning anyone who isn't balls deep into the club management as well, just like on RAWK. Free thought is scorned upon on there and it's a field of joy for all who take part

Bit heavy this.

Like others have said, at least let him have a couple of competitive games before the knives come out.

My point is we should be able to critique him the minute he signed the contract

If someone disagree's with someone having a somewhat negative comment I think they should have the decency to have a proper argument rather than just stampeding right for "Give him a chance"

...bad pre-seasons often result in a decent season. At least our current performance is managing expectation and not allowing anybody to get carried away.

The old timers will tell you that the worse the pre-season the better the season we have.

Nah mate just let the real competitive football start before before going crazy. You sound like your on your monthly jammy.

I'm not even saying we should all have a pop at him but I do think it's perfectly reasonable for Bungle to ask these questions if he feels they are pertinent

Like I said, I'm reserving judgment till later in the season, but that doesn't mean I think everyone else has to be lavishing praise on the manager at the drop of a hat

Balance people

BALANCE!!!

There's a difference between critiquing individual decisions or comments and asking if it's already "all gone a bit wrong."

That's so premature a question that it's insane. That's what people are reacting to.

As to that I cannot say, since I can´t be responsible for what other members post mate.

The point I am making is maybe we should wait until the competitive matches start before we lay into our new manager.

You're right.

We should resist making judgements about the fella before he's had chance to prove anything, but the converse is also true

Shift Fellaini and get McCarthy in (or similar clockwork quick-pass releasing player) in. He's leaving, just do it quick and get THAT player in and stuff settles more and makes sense.

Jesus christ, sorry guys, don't get your knickers in a twist. It was a genuine question.

I'm not trying to start a campaign to oust him from the club, you realise that yeah? Just got some fairly big concerns from what I've seen.

Fair point mate but having a thread entitled 'its all gone a bit wrong' before a competitive game seems a bit unfair to me. We've played some quality opposition this pre-season and Bobby's trying to make the players play in a few different systems so its obviously gonna take a bit of time to get right.
