Has it all gone a bit wrong?

So Martinez has tried to implement some new tactics and it all looks fairly terrible at the moment, players don't look comfortable with the positions they're being asked to play and we look poor defensively. The signings he's made haven't been great in my opinion and he generally looks a bit lost on the touchline.

How long into the season do we give him if it's not working? We haven't kept a clean sheet this pre-season and alarm bells are ringing already for me.

What a boring, unnecessary topic. For all the tripe Moyes served up under his decade; months of low scoring draws, bungling strikers, endless long balls, you can´t even give Martinez to the start of the season before you lay into him.

I'm going to wait till Christmas

If we're above 15th in January, then I'll still be okay with things

If we're lower than that, my trigger finger is going to be antsy

A drop off is natural with a new manager but a team that finished 6th the prior season should not be in the relegation zone so sharply

And yes, I know Moyes did something similar to that but that was with a weaker side than the one we have now

There wasn't any new tactics last night, basic 4-2-3-1 playing as we all last season, except the 2 midfielders didn't bother showing up.

Only conceded 4 goals against top quality opposition, and looked quite good at times in all games apart from the last really which was our 3rd game in 7 days and they'll have been training fairly hard in between the games as well.

I think we've looked ok personally and that's without us having our strongest team on the pitch at any one time.

I'm not expecting it to click straight away but the progress made so far has been encouraging

We conceded 4 in the 3 games prior to that against poor opposition, so what's your point?

Come on you can't say that was the same tactics as Moyes last night?

Yeah it might have been the same type of formation at times yet it seemed to be changing to me throughout the game as I wasn't always sure what we was playing but in no way was it the same to Moyes' last season with the style and tactics we played.

If the players look uncomfortable and look like they're adjusting to a new system - then GOOD! What we don't want is them to just do the same things they did under Moyes.

What gets me, we get beat by Madrid and Bobby comes out and says its all about fitness, we get beat by Valencia and Bobby comes and again says its all about fitness.

He simply doesnt understand what being Manager of Everton Football Club EST 1878 is all about, its not about fitness, its about winning games, winning trophys, we finished 6th in this compo and thats with a net spend of around 8m, its not good enough IMO.

NSNO Bobby, NSNO.

Oh God

Every comment even daring to criticse Martinez is going to get this sort of response isn't it?

I think mods should start banning anyone who isn't balls deep into the club management as well, just like on RAWK. Free thought is scorned upon on there and it's a field of joy for all who take part

apologies - I thought you were referring to the latest games. I think we looked fairly good in the previous games as well, particularly against Blackburn.
