that the race for fourth is getting more press than the race for the title, seems to me people are tired of the three horse race and want a new one, with ourselves, villa and the rs...... or i could just be crazy :dancing:

you're not crazy mate, we're all over the press coverage.

its understandable, i mean big freaking deal another title for manchester or arsenal, there are never really any surprises there. with the race for 4th place though, only we have broken the monopoly recently, and we're seriously on pace to do it again.

personally i'm a little bit more afraid of villa than liverpool, we tend to play poorly against them, and they're playing great football at the moment.

I am at least glad that we are pretty much guaranteed Europe bare a complete disaster.

mate i'm honestly not too sure, if any lower level teams make it to the FA cup final, only 5th place will get us in to europe, and if we fall behind the [Poor language removed] and villa pulls a double over us, its conceivable we'll drop to 6th.

do we get into europe again automatically for winning the UEFA cup? or is that worth [Poor language removed] all.

at any rate, i see us playing in europe next season, and while it would only take a few slipups to prevent that from happening, that's the nature of competitive football and we're finally at the stage where we can count on the team not to make those slipups.

We registered for the intertoto, so 6th place will get us uefa cup football even if some other team makes it to the FA cup final. We are 8pts above 7th which is really good (y)

we got 5 points on villa now..we just need to win these so called soft games coming up..no slip ups and we should have a little more room over the villa

spurs won the league cup..so no 6th spot this year...as far as i know

As of right now, 6th spot is still a UEFA cup spot.

Spurs took the 7th place UEFA spot.

If some outside team gets to the FA cup final, the 6th place spot would also go to that team and not the league. That scenario would leave only the 5th spot for the UEFA cup through the league (only if it's not a Chelsea/Man U final)

In that case, even if we finished 6th, since we registered for the intertoto, we would go into the intertoto cup and easily qualify for the UEFA cup through there.

So we're safe for Europe I think. Don't see us falling to 7th :)

let's push for the CL spot though!

I actually wanted Villa to beat Arsenal on Saturday. As long as one of us nip the [Poor language removed] for 4th (which could mean they'll have to start selling), I'll be happy.

Plantini has floated the idea of the UEFA cup winner getting a C-League spot but that rule hasn't be adopted yet. However we will qualify for UEFA cup next year if we win it

ah excellent so that's another shot at europe, albeit a long shot.

i had forgotten about the intertoto cup but that's good that we still have a chance, and whoever said it was right i doubt we finish 7th or below unless we absolutely self destruct or some team like blackburn and a couple others go on to win all of their games.

Europe is far from gauranteed, yes we're probably the bookies favourite to finish 5th, but lets not forget we've had some pretty poor end of season runs over the last few years. There are still far too many games left to be thinking we've already sorted europe.

While there is 30 points to play for, i'm taking nothing for granted. I still think it'll go down to the final day for who claims the 4th spot, i'd hate to lose out on goal difference.

England is top of the fair play league....if they remain there until the beginning of april an extra league place will gain uefa cup qualification...
