Fantastic record he had in an era of great teams and great Managers,I think if Shankly hadn't been around his achievements would have been recognised more nationally, where Shankly was an extrovert,Harry was an introvert, but that really shouldn't detract from the quality of his teams and the magnificent football they produced.
To be fair, i think he was always loved by the fans, but he was [Poor language removed] on by the board. He came to Goodison a few times after he quit and always got a fair reception....its a really good point about the different character types. Catterick, however, was lauded at Everton and fittingly died at Goodison. Class. Shankley on the other hand was dumped by the club he made famous and spent his latter years in seclusion. They unfurl banners in his image now, selective memory.

And Bobby Collins!Just wish he had kept Alan Ball a bit longer, he upset a lot of fans when he sold him.
Yes mate, wasn't happy about that either. And Bobby Collins!
Not taking anything away from his transfer dealings but, there was no agents then.Harry Catterick was a great manger, very quiet did not need to mouth off like Shankly. His time was also part of my time, he would sit up in the director's box alongside John Moores. The way he went about the business of signing players earned him a certain reputation. Not sure how much I believe it but it was rumoured that he signed up Alan Ball in a car for what was then a record transfer fee.
Glad to see some much deserved recognition.
