Cracking player.

There was a point when it looked like him and Slow Mo might be a great partnership but he was eventually let down.

Few English players in the past 30 or 40 years have had the touch or vision of Beardsley. His presence in our team at the time was incongruous, he was surrounded by a lot of dross and back in the early 90s it felt like the club was dying on its feet. Slumbering would have been too polite a description, but Beardsley was brilliant to watch. The pass from Ablett, his shimmy and shot for the winning goal against the RS in December '92 will always be one of my favourite Everton moments.

He played in age of bad frocks and managers who didn't know a genius when they saw one.
