Has anyone ever been to that Natterjack's running shop to get their running gait looked into and advised about what running shoes they are better wearing? Is it worth the effort?

You should always get someone to look at you run, or go to a shop with some specialised equipment, before buying a pair of running shoes. If your foot isn't striking properly you'll end up with problems, these could be hip, achilles, or other issues. For the occasional runner, who pretty much does a fast walk (aka jogging), it's not so much of an issue, but if you plan to run or job regularly then you should get someone to look at you run first.

You need to find out if you have a neutral foot strike, or you are pronating, and have the correct running shoes for you. They're not priced and made differently just for fashion reasons.

A specialist running shop wont be looking to sell you the most expensive shoes, they'll just make sure they are the right ones for you. They'll have ones that suit every budget, and in my experience they assume you're budget conscious.

If the running shoes don't correct your foot strike enough, assuming you don't have a neutral foot strike, or you develop problems; that's when you start to look at orthotics etc.

My missus is into her running and went to a shop that does this and reckons it was well worth it.

Spot on

Recently been having problems with my left heel when running.
Said to my girlfriend I need to go to a shop that will look at my running to see what the problem is.
She said I'll tell you what the problem is, you run like a meff.

She's right, you know

But you might want to find out if it's a heel bruise or PF

Hi Is this the New Balance Wholesale Shop

It is Sir yes, can I help you ?

Can you make my feet look a bit errr woolish?

Certainly Sir you've come to the right place, nobody does wool like us,apart from reebok i suppose, and maybe lonsdale, would you like to try the New Balance Widnes special edition?

And your point being ?

I work part time around uni in a sports shop which does the whole Gait Analysis thing, its well worth doing if you're going to be taking it seriously like, no point paying £90 for trainers if they're garbage and going to give you shooting pains after every 3 miles. Get your gait looked at and you'll be told what's best for you. Thing is as well if you're working to a budget then then can advise you the best you can get for that price, rather than trying to force you to buy more expensive trainers.

I bought these a month ago and right now they are the best running shoes I've ever owned. Saucony Kinvara 5 ($65-85). Lightweight <10 oz but cushioned better than any lightweight shoe on the market. A couple other good shoes that I like are Brooks Ravennas ($80) which is a good sturdy neutral shoe. You can't go wrong with any of the ASICS line either. I used to be a Mizuno guy and loved Wave Riders but my god their products are garbage now. The fabric of the shoes are so rigid now that they dig into the top of your foot and are painful to run in.

I did get the whole running thing analyzed but at a podiatrist. I had health insurance and it was cheaper for me to go there instead of a running shop. Plus I got a pair of custom fit orthotics for $20. Orthotics take a few weeks to get used to but are worth it (as long as the price is reasonable).
