He just is not needed, but there is no way out for him so we are stuck with this £50m weight round our necks. It's not his fault but he does not fit in with us at all.

As our top scorer last year, our record signing and a player who has consistently proven to be amongst the most consistent 10’s in the league over a long time (and one of the best set piece takers) isn’t it odd that we’re not building a system around him?

He’s certainly a quality player. And the current system, with or without him, isn’t exactly thriving. Perhaps, just perhaps, it’s not Siggy that’s the problem.

You would build a team around him? He is no doubt a good player, but just does not fit through no fault of his own.

The type of player he is, as a number 10, he doesn't fit the types of football the top teams now play.

But Silva isn't doing any favours either.

Surely he’s simply a part of the jigsaw.
It’s the managers job to create a system that makes him fit. Not just him but all of our key players. Siggy is without doubt a key player.

I like him but I find him harder and harder to defend. Yes he's been one of our highest scorers but usually is our most advanced player and takes most of our set pieces and pens. Compared with most number 10s he does very little to link midfield and attack, and does very little defensively. Just feel there are better options I'm afraid.

Apart from the odd wonder goal, he slows us down massively.
Nah I disagree with that as a general point. Richy goal vs Brighton, Sig goal v Utd, Richy goal vs Burnley are just three examples off the top of my head where he's been dynamic and created a chance with a quick pass or run. The Utd goal for example is a counter attack with Gueye which apparently he never does.

He's playing poorly. He should be on the bench. But there's some revisionism going on regarding his whole Everton career. He's just not in form, as simple as that in my opinion.

Surround him with pace (runners ahead of him) Richarlison and Iwobi / Walcott on the wings, Kean up top. Maybe that would become less of a problem.

Ultimately it falls back on the manager to find a system that gets results, irrespective of personnel. He’s yet to find that system. But it makes sense, to me at least, that the most likely, worthwhile system we could use with the components we have, would have to include our highest scoring midfielder.

I’m not saying he’s been great, because I don’t think anyone has in particular. I just think It’s a bold choice to drop him, of all people, when things are going poorly.

In my opinion, he’s the one player we have capable of genuine top class,“something out of nothing” quality. In other words, he’s a matchwinner, and we haven’t got many of them.

I find it worrying that he was the first player to come on when Bernard got injured , even though it meant shifting Iwobi out wide.
He could just as easily brought on DCL or Kean and shifted Richarlison out wide , I think he is under pressure from Sigurdsson to get him in the team and he buckles under the pressure.
Was it Tim Sherwood said a week ago that Sigurdsson would be banging on the managers door after being left out of the team against West Ham?
