He was great! Fantastic passing and crossing! I like how he was always looking to play Baines in. :) I agree that he looks a bit lacking in confidence but hopefully more appearances will sort that out!

First half apart from his brilliant cross I was a little disappointed with him (loose passes ect) but second half he grew in confidence and proved me well wrong!
Great performance by the lad

Loved his performance. Was very suprised actually.

He looked knackered after about 3 minutes but think that may be just the way he looks!!

Very impressed.

Yeah he does! He has a touch of the Anichebes about him in that he looks goosed no matter what.

Plus points

Can pick a pass
Good technique
Links up well with the Jelly man!

Minus points

Not pacey enough for a wide player
Doesn't dribble
Looked quite knackered by 65 minutes

I was very impressed tonight, but we still need to see more of him.

Agree with all the plus points but would add, he is an excellent crosser of the ball.

Regarding the minus points, i agree but beckham didn't really have them either, if he can make a bit of space for himself to whip the crosses in, he doesn't have to beat his man.

The more games he plays the better he will look. i think he could become a very good player.

I reckon you have hit the nail on the head,sw blue. I have always liked him but agree that he is lacking in pace.
But as you say he's got a great pass on him. I just wonder if he could play more of a central, offensive role maybe alongside Jelakic. He is strong and I think will only get better as long as he plays regularly.
This is my line-up for next season (plus Seamus at right back). The rest of the defence picks itself.

Gueye, Jelakic

Pienarr, Fellani, Barkley, Drenthe.

I would find it hard to leave gibson out.

This. It's almost like he's responsible for our form since the city game. As soon as he came in we started winning and as soon as he came back from injury, the same thing happens.

Hes a very good player. Loads of potential and had a superb game. Again saying that we didnt need Pienaar or Drenthe to rely on and Magaye did his job well. Im a big fan of Magaye and when people seen him on the teamsheet there wasnt many happy, Hopefully hes proved them wrong. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS.

Before last night I thought he was shyte but I've always thought his crossing was brilliant. Best crosser we've had at the club in years, even better than Baines.

yep, his corners from the left looked awesome, cahill nearly scoring from one

I'm super chuffed that he actually stepped up to the occasion yesterday, well in. Still young, but seems safer and more technically sure of himself than Drenthe. Less volatile, like.

Also, compared to Pienaar, he seems to able to carry a lot of ground very well. Pienaar prefers to run with it, stop, and release other players by dragging defenders with him, while Gueye's game is all about leaving defenders behind. Good pace and good crossing, really good to see that.

And, come to think of it, even though he's third choice behind RR and Peanut, come 1st of july, he'll be our only choice for a winger!
