Guaye

I don't hate the lad, hope he does well in the future, I'm not sure he's up to it right now, just didn't look good today, and looked a bit absent minded about covering baines as well.

Its his position that confuses me. What technical abilities does he possess that make him a Left Midfielder? When he came on, Baines picked the ball up in our half, and began to run at the Kopites. Now where Pienaar or Mirrallas would go might differ, but they understand the typeof positions that they need to take up. Either they go really wide, look for the one-two, over-lap, under-lap...basically anywhere thats going to be effective and into space for himself, or create space for Baines. In this example, Baines gets all the way to the box with Gueye strolling alongside him - marked by Wisdom, and has to literally continue and go alone, losing the ball. I have never seen Baines show animation like it, you could visibly see him shout 'Move for me!'.

I think Gueye has good feet and a decent shot, but he is no way a left winger. Stick him up top, using his body and a decent turn.

But the fact hes not a left winger isnt really his fault if hes played there....dont you think?

Championship player at best

Why Moyes brought him on instead of Ovideo is anyones guess the lad runs like hes got iron boots on

And the thing is he has already played 30 odd games for us but then Oviedo did more right things than him. That's say it all.

For me he looked better today than any other time I've seen him. I'm not sure he'll ever be the type to go past men at will, and he was nearly caught out when he tried to let the ball run dead, but his passing was neat and tidy and he ensured we kept possession well.

Without doubt he was a step down from the excellence of Mirallas, but that would have happened with anyone we put on. It didn't help either that he was shunted out to the right.

For what it's worth I don't think he'll ever be a world beater, and I can't see him ever making a starting spot his own, but on the basis of his outing today he's not a bad squad player, especially given how few options we actually have from the bench.

If you look at our guys performance, you can't really ask for more than 100%. I don't think Guaye has that much more to give, so he gave as good as he could. Guys like Felli and Jelavic by contrast were below par, yet seem immune from anything, which to be honest is a good thing, as there's far too much knee jerking going on, with scapegoats having to be found each week.

I've seen a few people saying he did well when he came on.

Is there free glue knocking about or something? He was horrendous at best.

You can't have watched the Sunderland FA Cup replay then, that was the only match when he has really impressed. He was crap today, looked clueless when he had the ball and is way too slow to be paired up with Baines.

doesn't look like a winger for me. dont think ive seen him beat a player since hes been at the club, has also came out and said recently that he prefers playing just behind the striker or upfront, but seeing as we have fellaini and jelavic thats hardly looking like happening any time soon.

Wanted him to do so well, but he really was quite poor, had some good touches, but you could see when Oviedo came on with 10 or so minutes to go that with his pace and bit of skill that he should have come on instead. He will get more chances though, Personally I would send him on loan like Barkley, he has some potential.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him go out on loan in the New Year. With Pienarr retiring from international football, Mirallas being boss and Oviedo showing glimpses of why we bought him it would do Gueye the world of good to get some competitive games under his belt away from Goodison where every mistake is magnified.
