There is a great deal written about Mr Kenwright, some things fair, some things not so fair. Does he value the club more than he even recognises? Not in terms of financial value, but in terms of not being able to let go and chance that someone else running the club might do either good or harm?
He rescued us from the malignant clutches of the once heralded saviour Peter Johnson. Is the memory of that rescue (that has seen Bill in charge ever since) part of the reasoning behind his seeming intransigence to sell the club on?
In essence is Bills love for Everton Football Club the very same thing that is preventing him from taking a back seat and letting the club move on?

I think you are right, I don't think he would do what 90% of the chairmans will do, and just sell the club to someone who promises to splash the cash.

I think he is too concerned with the future to sell to arabs or a russian tycoon. He's after a Jack Walker type of chairman, someone who loves the club and will put every penny they earn into it, kind of like he does. But he's just not rich enough.

Sadly as Bill has said many times, football is not a millionaires games anymore.

Speculation once again ?

Is it that Bill won't let go , or that there genuinely isn't any interest ?
It will be interesting to see if this changes once Kirkby is agreed .

He want's the best for the club, I've no doubt. His biggest mistake, and the one that will haunt him and us for generations to come, is allowing people like Leahy and Earl dictate to him on the biggest issue to have faced the club since 1892. He loves the club; those two snakes couldn't give a flying **** as long as they make a massive profit (not that Bill will throw his wedge in the bin like). That all flows from his unwillingness to open us up for outside investment.

I was driving at the possibility of potential buyers not passing Bills 'right and proper persons' test, let alone the FA's.

2 questions :

What involves the ' proper persons ' test ?
How many genuine offers have we had since Kenwright took control ?

For me , anyone who is interested in buying the club must be able to do so with 'their own ' money , as opposed to borrowing to buy . They must also have the intention , and means , to invest into the club , as opposed to simply buying it , and the club not moving forward.

If Kenwrights test was a similar requirement , then I think I would support him 100% .

In this order i would say things holding up a possible takeover:

Kirkby
Complex Shareholding
Liverpool Fc
Debt

* Incidently as has been pointed out length, somone (presumeably one of the many cueing around the corner of goodison) can become a majority shareholder with out Sir Williams stake in the club.

Unless of course you beleive in the sock puppet or the "true meaning of friendship" defence Vs the possibility of earning tens of millions.

just out of curiosity , if the moores family sold to bk back then instead of johnson , would we be the same , better off or worse off ?

the way i see kenwright is thus......... a man on minimum wage loves ferrari's . he cant afford the petrol , cant afford the maintanance or parts , is a really really bad driver but loves the car to bits and the thrill it gives him from people saying 'wow you have a ferrari ?"
that ferrari is gonna rust away or end up smashed into a tree killing the driver.

Hahahaha, spot on. The only thing is, its Kenwrong that does the prancing and not the horse.

I think Everton fans never can thank him enough for saving us from PJ.

But simply in speculative perspective. I do think that his great love for the club can make him reluctant to sell to certain possible buyers. He really loves the club and I think he wants someone who see the club in a similar way as he does to take over, so when a filthy-rich arab comes along and says that they are willing to buy teh club and invest an obscene amount of cash to get great players, but can't name the groundsmans nephews hairdressers dogs favourite food... Kenwright gets evasive and the arab goes somewhere else.

If a filthy rich evertonian came I do think he would happily sell the club and take a backseat to see his beloved club in the hands of someone else who love it as much as he does.

Hows he gonna smash it in to a tree if he can't afford to put petrol in it?

Push start?

That is exactly it, he appears to be looking for kin, and for me I can see the logic therein. I suspect the situation is that he does not want to have his name attached to the club going to a 'human rights violations' Shinawatra type and thus be tarred with their crimes, not only against humanity but also against one of the bastions of the football founders.
There are not many individuals on the circuit too rich to care about losing ''pocket change'' of a few hundred million pounds. Everton FC is more than a frippery to Bill Kenwright, that is his position, a position he has earned. Ask Newcastle united fans if their last messiah turned out so well, or the one before that, or before that, or before that...
