...technically outstanding. I spoke to a defender who marked him and said his back to goal play was so good he could hardly see the ball.

I remember Lineker saying he didn't realise how good a player Sharp was until he played alongside him. I think Sharp benefited lots from Andy Gray. I loved Sharp, one of the very best of his type.

Very under rated for a long, long time, but he worked his socks off to become a deadly centre forward in the best traditions of Everton number 9s.

He'll always be remembered for that goal at Anfield, but I remember an absolute belter from him at Fratton Park against Portsmouth on a horrible wet, rainy day. I was in the main stand amongst Pompey fans with my youngest, she was about 3, and when Sharpie scored an absolute screamer from about 25 yards I did not hold back with the celebration lollol

Many years later, she later ended up working with him !!!

One of the best at controlling the ball. He could kill almost any overhit pass stone dead to his feet. An outstanding footballer, not just a goal scorer.

What a great kit that was.

Remember a screamer in a 1-0 win at a midweek match v Leeds towards the end of Kendall's first season. Not televised unfortunately.

Could strike a ball well with foot or head.
