Homepage Article Goodison Park to become the permanent home of Everton Women

It`ll be interesting to see if they can get big crowds in every game, but I expect the upper tier may be left closed for some games to create a better atmosphere if crowds are low. Another thing is to see how the pitch stands up to so many extra games being played on it. Both men and ladies teams have good domestic cup runs and play European football too so i wonder if the surface will stand up to the extra games.

They played 9 games there this season with an average attendance over 34,000. They will only play European games there in the knockout stages so not a huge change from this season.

Didn`t realize they had played so many games there this season. I suppose that shows that there is a lot of folks willing to go to watch the WSL if clubs find the right way to bring some new fans in on a more regular basis. It would be good if they had their fixture lists coincide with the mens team when there are PL and WSL games on the same weekend. If we play home Saturday and the ladies play Sunday, or vice versa, it might encourage folks staying over the weekend to catch both.

Around 9 millions people in London too so a huge catchment area for them. Build it and they will come etc.

Playing all mens and womens games at the same home ground is what will happen at all clubs, I think Villa do it already don't they? Now Arsenal. Not long before we, RS, City and the others do the same, that still means only 30-40 games per season at the main home grounds, so still empty for 320+ days of the year.

That`s a lot of games to be playing during a season for the pitches to cope with. One of the problems with pitches ending up like ploughed field was the amount of games that were played on them. Arsenal, Spurs, RS, United etc all play WSL games at grounds with no connection to their club. They are trying to move games to the main ground in an attempt to pull more folks into games, making the ladies teams feel more part of the club then a separate one. We are in a unique situation where we are moving the ladies into our old ground that is steeped in history, very much part of the club and will allow both men and ladies teams to play on a pitch that will not be over used.
