Goodison park or New Stadium.

Elstone said at the time of the Kirkby debacle that Goodison could be redeveloped for £130 million.

It's definitely a realistic option for me.Especially with the money from the new TV deal to play with.

Our current board have made it clear that redeveloping goodison isn't realistic option for them.

As long as kenwright and co are in charge , New Stadium will remain their only option going forward

And that's why Kenwright, Earl and Green should be chased out of our club.

Everton belong at Goodison Park. It should be the first option and only if it was deemed impossible should we think about moving.

One of the best assets the club has is Goodison Park.

There are very few, if any, stadiums left in world football that cultivate the same atmosphere and reputation. Leaving that behind would be a dreadful pity and something that would change Everton FC forever. Whether that's good or bad, that's for time to tell.

It's a very strange scenario that the club finds themselves in. All that heritage and character outweigh the prospect of a brand new, soulless stadium like the Etihad or Emirates. Financially it has its merits but we don't seem to be doing THAT badly without it.

A question on new stadium development--are there any new stadiums that are well received? Obviously any new stadium will not carry the same ethos as the one it replaces, but there is no small number of very successful new stadiums in the US. Probably at least 50% of the new stadiums are as good/better than the ones they're replacing, although there are no doubt some giant duds.

I might do a trawl around other sites and ask that question. I'll exclude City with that much money AND a 'Free' stadium, say no more...also exclude West Ham for the same free stadium

I would suspect that Arsenal are happy enough.

Untd, Villa, Newcastle and Spurs, all have or are in the process of Phased Re-development...Chelsea? mmm not too sure if their money negates any real angst... so long as they are in the top 4 and have their sugar daddy.

As for the rest, they're never, bar the odd cup and getting promoted ( then getting relegated ) going to do much so their new stadiums are irelevent in the great scheme of things ( cash wise revenue streams to offset the really rich rival ) as most of their grounds were just one step above pig pens and thus only the sentimental pull of the old traditional ground is of any matter.

rs who cares, but they are going for redevelopment as well

*answers own question, scraps survey plans.

Don't move. Goodison is unique. I have followed everton for a while and all the bull about having to move to kirkby - what a disaster that would have been. Hibs have been through EXACTLY the same. We were told we have to move out of town beside ikea or the club has no future. That fell through and we rebuilt the stadium stand by stand over 15 years. The last stand went up in 2010 with 6,500 seats for 6 million quid. That doesn't include boxes but the room for them is there. Im not trying to pretend hibs are a well run club btw, they built a stadium but apart from that have been shambolic. Im just saying it wouldn't have to cost the earth to build a new 10,000 seater stand. .

All goodison needs as far as i can see is the same help anfield got from LCC. If you can expand into the area behind the bullens that's half the battle. The school is already their land so it would all come down to securing diana and muriel st. Could that not be achieved if they put their mind to it?

From there you could build. 1st phase build a new bullens filled with all the corporate facilities you will ever need. Build the bullens back a yard to make room for when you need to rebuild the main stand.
2nd phase gwladys and park built (a yard closer to bullens).
3rd phase a new main stand.

The frustrating thing is BK sitting and hoping something falls into his lap. Some freebie from a big developer. Even if it does unless it's king's dock nothing will come close to goodison. It must be time to just commit to goodison. Even if it takes 20 years it will be well worth it.

I would rather stay at Goodison myself if the opportunity to redevelop was a realistic option.

If we were to build a new stadium the only way I would be happy with this is if it was a traditional stadium with four sides and whee the fans are still close to the pitch. I am not a fan of these circular grounds at all
avoid at all cost...they kill atmosphere

It's all about location. I'd love to stay at Goodison and look at the redevelopment of grounds like Moleneux, but I think we're a bit too hemmed in compared to Wolves.

A city location would be ideal, whatever we get though, needs to be close in to the pitch and none of this multi-purpose nonsense.

Unfortunately stadiums are built for more than just Saturday afternoons these days.

We may not be overjoyed with it as traditionalists and fans but as a club we need a stadium that will generate money and help us to compete at the top table for generations to come.

Not sure if he wrote the Goodison Redevelopment thesis on KEIOC but if he did he puts these figures on the Park End development.

"This basic extension could probably be achieved at a cost per seat of approx £1,500 per seat. The resultant capacity could be as high as 48,500.."

Thats not big enough.

From around 1996 to present day, we have been in this holding pattern of, "we won't invest on GP, because we are looking to move to a new stadium"

This means, in terms of stadium, we have stood still for around 20 years (since the park end was completed in 1994)

For me I just want us to do something now. The board seem set on a move, with a retail park to fund most of it. At the moment, that doesn't seem to be going anywhere, but unless the board change their minds, we could find ourselves in the same position, in another 20 years.

Has to be a new stadium, if we redevelop Goodison how long will it be before we have to go through all of this again anyway?
