Chris

a whole wheel of cheese?
I started playing golf the other week and I'm completely bitten by the golf bug at the moment. Bought some bats and balls and I've been hacking my way around a few courses.

Anyone else on here play? Anyone got any tips? Shot tips, grip, places to shop, 2for1 course offers etc?

:D

I had lessons from a PGA pro for about 2 years. I am not too shabby at it and just the other week made a putt that Tiger would have jumped for joy to make.

I am hitting with a 7 year old set of Wilson Fatshafts that have about 6 rounds of golf use on them. My tip, pay for a couple of lessons. They teach you about the grip, stance and swing, all extremly important to getting a good technique down.

After football it used to be my passion mainly played at Allerton in Liverpool but it got to the stage that she who has to be obeyed felt the need to remind me I was a family man and weekend trips to Scotland and Ireland where not fair and she had a point ,I was never that good unlike my cousin who was very good there is a course in Kirkby and I hit my best ever drive and to my horror a kid came out the bushes snatched my ball and a runner my mates could have caught him if they hadn't fell over laughing.:lol:enjoy it Chico its a great game.

Played this past weekend at a nice resort in San Antonio. A bit warm though.

Shot a 90 and that was with really poor greens (they just finished working on them).

My biggest piece of advice would be get some golf lessons asap. That way you learn to play the right way from the beginning as opposed to going to a golf pro years later and having him or her fix all of the flaws in your swing.

Enjoy.

First of all buddy stop calling them bats, there clubs.

I know that lad it was a joke :D

Cheers for the advice chaps. I'll book a lesson or two asap.

Incidentally, I was very good mates with Lee Slattery when we were still in school. He is now on the pro circuit.

He was a [Poor language removed] comedian:D

Got two good tips from club pro.....

1 Grip and rip.
2 Be the ball

But my little trick is this... No matter how crap the shot was, (even if the ball went 10yds and you still need the same club) put the club back in the bag and start again with a clear mind. Take the club back out and go back over your routine agian. Dont just walk over and try and smash it out of anger. ALWAYS PUT YOUR CLUB BACK IN THE BAG AFTER EACH CRAP SHOT.

Its amazing how much this works and will save 5-10 strokes for a new golfer.

Just had to tell people about this. Ended up playin at Bootle G.C on Wed. Not played there for years. But on the 12th i possibley smacked my longest ever drive. Hole 375yrd and my ball was defo inside 50 to the front of the green. 325+ yrds!! Get in there.

GRIP AND RIP!(y)(y)(y)

Get gps and measure it next time you are there ;)
My mate uses his Nokia N95 to measure his decent drives.

A bit to techie that for a knock about. good idea tho.(y)
Think cos ive not played for the most of last year, that has ironed out some of me flaws with my drivin this year. Ive hit a few around the 300yrd now so far including a green in one 298yrd par 4 (7th) at Kirkby which i eagled! Wooo hooo!(y)(y)(y)

Anybody else got any good shots they wanna tell the world?

Hi, This is my first time on here, and Im helping to put together a golf event for Everton fans and the Premier league. Winners from each club are being taken to Portugal to play in the Sky Sports Final. If anyone would like info on it (its called The Profantastic Golf Challenge), you can let me know. cheers.
