Goat

Happy to answer any questions anybody might have.

As you say we are stubborn and if it wasnt for my wife making me go the outlook might not be as pleasant.
100%

Today would have been my uncle Peter's 67th Birthday.

He died in 2018, aged just 59. Cancer of the esophagus as the primary which had spread to his liver.

They needed blood thinners to reduce the blood clots in his esophagus and also needed to put a stent in his liver as the cancer was affecting the blood flow. However, giving him blood thinners would have made the stent operation deadly as he would have bled to death internally. Not taking the blood thinners meant the clots in his esophagus would also finish him off.
He was dead less than a week after being admitted to hospital.

He had collapsed earlier that week at home and my aunt had forced him to go and get checked out. It turned out he had been in pain for months previous, had lost lots of weight and had shrugged it all off as "part of getting old" and not told anyone about it.

Get checked out if something doesn't feel right, folks.

^^ the above story makes me so angry, not at LL, and not at anyone connected, but at men in general, the attitude of soldier on till it's time to go over the top is so backwards. The ones left behind and the hurt and recrimination is so massive, it's a stubborn selfish way to hide from the reality of what is happening.
That may sound callous, it's borne from the other half of the population, found a lump, go and get checked, it's better to know earlier than not, hiding from it only lets it get its hooks in deeper. We owe ourselves and those we love every minute we have. Once we are gone we are gone.

:(

Not sure if ive done this, but may as well use this thread for good.

I had a lump in my neck for a long time, it was just at the side, nothing major, it would be more noticeable when I coughed.

Being a man, I put up with it, it didnt hurt and it was barely noticeable until I went looking for it.

Anyway, 1 day I showed my wife who said I should go the Doctors.

I went the Doctors, long story short, for 6months they said it was a cyst, then they said they dunno, I was due to have a very minor op, then 2 days before my OP I was sent for further tests by a new Surgeon.

It was then that I was told I had thyroid cancer, 2 weeks later I had a pretty major OP, followed by radiation treatment.

As I say, recovery is going great, its rough in the cold, everything locks up!!! But ive gone back to swimming and even the scar is less noticeable, as I say, currently just having scans, but other than tablets for the rest of my life I should be Gucci.

I then went the Docs for something else and mentioned that I had a weird spot that bleeds and never goes away, long story short that was skin cancer, which im due to have cut out soon(TM).

So what im saying is, dont ignore lumps, spots or anything else that doesnt seem right.

Go get them checked out peeps.

We'll be reading the obituaries next lad, it's getting to that time...FFS.

Get well soon.

Your brother in brokenville..
