I worked in London for most of the 70s and went to lots of big venues, Glastonbury was hardly heard of in them days.To me at least. That actually surprises me. I would have bet at least 10p that he had.

Really until the mid/late 90s Glastonbury was still a very alternative/hippy/reggae lineup. 'Big' acts and legends is a relatively new thing.I worked in London for most of the 70s and went to lots of big venues, Glastonbury was hardly heard of in them days.To me at least.
Weren't they supposed to play one of the early ones but there was some sort of f. up over their gear or something?Apparently, Floyd reformed to play in 2002. Cording to the internet mind.

Yeah, I remember them headlining on a Friday one year I was there, when they were fairly new (pre-Morning Glory), but they'd still have been considered an indie band, they weren't like global stadium fillers. I think it was Jay Z that really changed things. No idea, but most likely. Oasis, prime Oasis, played there in their heyday. Maybe the first mega act, along with the TV and wide coverage, that ushered in the Glasto we see today?
