That Billie Ellish was hard work.... struggle to see how she ever hit the big time. Seems a nice kid and all, but christ that was just.... noise....

Primal Scream relying on Rocks..
Soz, but I wanted this to sound boss and it’s utter gash..

In the meantime..
Man at the top of his game at 50..

Yeah but over the years people have said that about The Who, Led Zeppelin, Sex Pistols, Iron Maiden and probably the Beatles !
Most likely a lot of people who saw all those great bands live. They all likely had "off days". BE though.....just don't get the popularity. Opinions, maaaaaan

The real reason for Billie Ellish’s success is Lana Del Rey.

Billie Eilish hates being compared to Lana Del Rey

I think in terms of marketing & 'authenticity' it's Billie Eilish's schtick that is found more wanting. On the back of Lana's success, and unique style, we then get a less-challenging version, to appeal to the huge segment of the market that don't get on with Lana's intelligent subversiveness, but like the whispery 'sad-girl-inc' vocals.

It's a marketing trick as old as the industry itself: copy the talent, but only the surface bits. Market it as unique & original.

See also The Monkees < The Beatles. Lorde < Kate Bush. Bruno Mars < Michael Jackson. Even Harry Styles has been described as the next David Bowie in shilling mainstream media.

Fast forward 10 years, and we'll see if Eilish will make some quality music for the ages....so far (like the other copies), i don't think she has anything that will stick years from now.
