GIF avatar?

I've noticed some people have gifs as their avatar and I really want to make this one mine, but when I put the link in or try to upload the gif, it comes up as a still image. Does anyone know how to make it work?

Morning dude. I think it has to do with the size of gif files.....

If the photo is too big for the avatar for example, it will resize it for you, but I dont think you can do that with a gif file

I'm probably wrong, but thats what seemed to happen when I tried, ha. So, maybe try a smaller one, see if that works dude?
