What's that coming over the hill?
Is it a bigger more expensive version of the iPod touch?
Is it a bigger more expensive version of the iPod touuuuuuuch?

Oh dear, surprised mate - thought you had more maturity than this.

It's clearly different to the iPod touch, for a kick off it's not an iPod.

What Apple are doing is aiming this product at a niche market, plus a bunch of "Me to" people.

The people who are going to find this useful are those corporate folk who sit around in meetings discussing designs, ideas and so on.

I personally don't think it's for me and probably won't ever buy one. The technology on the other hand is what I am more interested in, the different way in which we interact with objects on a screen using a series of simple gestures.

When they release the technology to the next generation of iMac then I will probably invest, as I would personally find it useful.

Well, it runs the iPhone OS, but it doesn't make calls, like an iPod touch.

Looks like an iPod touch, works like an iPod touch. Hmm, looks like McDonalds super-sized the iPod touch!

It's just a big iPod touch.

I do have to say, only the most die-hard Apple fan-boys are defending this on the tech blogs.....

it's a big iPod Touch. It's quite possibly the laziest thing Apple has ever done. The presentation was so bad, in terms of it being a total marketing spin on trying to pass off a rehashed existing product as a new one, that it was like watching a parody

They should have called it the iSlate, as it was rumoured, because that's what I want to do with it...... slate it!

I think Ghost pretty much summed up what I was thinking after I'd got over the disappointment of the event, the main place I could see the device being useful was for work. Note taking, presentation stuff, basically an environment where I wouldn't need to multi task and would just need to be focusing on one thing

Anyway, as a Mac boy I hope Apple can resolve the flaws of this product with some future software updates

I'm not defending it. Just saying that it's not an iPod touch, it's not even a big iPod touch.

It's like saying that a Dell laptop is just a small computer - it's more than that. It has different appeal.

The iPod family is a portable music system you can carry around in your pocket. Your never going to get the iPad in your pocket.

I'm not impressed with what it does, or who it's aimed at, but I am impressed with the technology it has, and that it will be more useful to me once its moved into the iMac family.

Too much technology for me. :(

I remember back in the day when everything was simple.

But you've just identified right there why it's so rubbish mate. Because it's an iPod touch that can't be carried around in the way an iPod touch can. It's a tablet pc, that isn't as good as a tablet pc. And it's exhorbitantly priced.

I haven't said it's rubbish at all - just that I am not impressed with it on the surface.

No, you identified WHY it was rubbish. The fact you couldn't admit it was just an indictment of yourself. You made the argument everyone else in this thread has been making against you without even realising.

No I said I wan't impressed with it, but the underlying technology I was, and I said so.

My god you kids don't learn anything in school do you?

Go and make up some gay songs lad.
