Labby v Jack Charlton no contest one was a great footballing centre back the other was a complete yard dog who had Johnny Morrissey in his black book as he was a dirty stopper, whilst our Labby was a class centre half only ever booked once who would have won a World Cup winners medal he told Alf Ramsey after we had won the FA Cup he did not want to be in the 1966 Squad, as he was getting married - yet ironically went to Mexico in 1970!
Another thing about that 1966 England team - Nobby Styles would have never played only because Tony Kay had been banned !

Not exactly as I remember it, Labone played in one of Ramsey's first games Vs France he replaced the aging Maurice Norman of Spurs and they lost 5-2. He was dropped and Norman stepped back in. Got his next (3rd) cap in 1967.

I seem to remember him saying that Ramsey blamed him, hence the wilderness years.

Some stats say he was 'Injured' for the 66 world cup, but he was running around OK at Wembley in May.I think he was not selected, so it was a bit of a chicken egg thing.

I know Westy was told by his missus if you go to mexico (1970) I'll divorce you

He famously later said...'I should've gone, she divorced me anyway.'

Would rather do a Lampard and spend a decade of my life being forced to cohabit with Steven Gerrard when it clearly isn't working than play for England
 
Any wife who, entangled with a pro footballer, plans a wedding during a top football competition,rather than the safe zone - that month after it - doesn't respect football, or her potential spouse, and should be swerved.

I think you may have just blown me out of the water there. We also have Everton FC, I mean if ever the devil and God had a battle of creations then this is it. Lucifer didn't like Everton so he was cast away from heaven and created Liverpool FC out of spite.
 
One of my friends has two tickets for the champions league final on Saturday in Milan.
Unfortunately he forgot that he was getting married that day!
He had bought tickets half a year ago, it was before the exact date of the wedding was set. But I have promised to help him.
So the question is. Is there anyone who wants to get married on Saturday?
