Nice one kev, but also read the rest of the thread with people being irrationally mad about having a minute's silence because of the passing of a monarch.

Also yeah, you're making generally a huge deal out of literally next to nothing. It's not like they're taking people to the centre of the pitch and shooting them, it's a minute of silence. lol

So yeah, it's entertaining. People are preemptively getting mad about nothing. What's there not to enjoy out of this?

Wonder what @davek thinks about this situation. He always has a balanced and unbiased view.
Would you respect the passing of Erdogan if forced to respect such gestures in a stadium over your way sir?

Can you not see why I dislike the British? Ireland has only been its own country for 100 years because of them and 6 counties are still occupied.
you "dislike the British" - i will take it that obviously you mean "the Establishment" -i get that you want a united Ireland

no quibbles with you there mate. i hate what the robber barons have done to indigenous peoples the world over. CEO`s and Exec`s have taken up that mantle and run with it.

as someone of the working class i believe i am automatically an enemy of the state in their eyes

us English peasants have been under the yoke for countless generations. we were canon-fodder, now we are cash-cows.

Scousers respecting and tolerating the crown is an innovate notion sir.

…plenty of scousers have been queuing in Edinburgh and London to pay their respects. I saw two ladies being interviewed who were going to both. It’s too much of a generalisation to suggest all Liverpool people are against the monarchy.

Regardless, an old lady has passed away & she loved her horse racing. I imagine the vast majority of Evertonians will respect the situation.

I dare say that would have been a different scenario if that event happened one hour away in Glasgow.
Didn't they do some nice things for it in the champs league at Rangers and Celtic? I thought both were well observed.

I deffo like the gall of the guy to effectively shout nonce at his mums funeral procession - imagine doing that at some other funeral procession and thinking you'd still have your teeth.

I think we’ve done well to get to 11 pages and for sure is a sign of GOT’s increasingly maturity to act sensibly and respectfully on divisive, emotionally charged matters. It’s in this spirit that I request my permanent ban from the Current Affairs forum to be rightfully overturned or just merge that forum with the Ale House so one can debate others in a very mature way. Thank you.

Everton forever we are on our way together.
The whole thread has reminded me why I stay away from the Current Affairs forum. lol
Mamba out

Top bit, you’ll find they’re in a real minority.

Bottom bit agreed, apart from the horse racing bit which was a bit weird.

You did but the Turks had him right off and now they want you to kneel in your stadiums to their national anthem and proclaim the Ottoman your cultural heroes. Would you yield in this likely circumstance sir?
Ah yes, this is literally not what's currently happening in Britain, but very relevant.

Also no, but ottomans being here means we're back under slavery anyway as 500 years weren't enough and I wouldn't really have a choice lol
