I totally understand those who are of the view that the Monarchy should be scrapped, but to boo a national anthem and a minute silence is not the way to do it.

I’m sure there are better ways to show that point of view then to do something that would antagonise people.

Don’t sing it if you don’t want too but booing it just seems off to me it’s only a one off anyway due to the death of a Queen.

The national anthem should never be the national anthem. Might as well have Happy Birthday as the national anthem. It should be a song about the country or its people, not its ruler. If it was, there would be much less animosity over the national anthem itself.

However, as it is, you wont find me singing it as I despise the monarchy and the whole class system that it represents.

I'll just remain silent though, there's no need for me to advertise my dislike, those how it matters to already know my position.

yes it`s a mixed bag record, as it is with most Empire building.

but Britain going out on a limb to end international slavery on its own and the outlawing of barbarism in its colonies instead of perpetrating worse crimes against populations should at least be recognised
The Kikuyu want a word.

I think if Irish people feel so strongly that they hate England that they want to boo their national anthem they should probably consider if supporting an English football team is really for them.
What a ridiculous statement.

How about we stop politicising football and allow people to just enjoy sport. The only time any sort of national anthem should be played at a sporting event, is during international competition and, even then I'd question it.

I don't understand why football has taken it upon themselves to force us to mourn the death of an old woman. Its not like nobody has had a chance to do it. They could go walk past her coffin if they really want to. Just play football FFS.

Id even go so far as to say that if you feel you need to use football as a platform to mourn, then football isn't for you.

Ah so all those years of scouser/Irish history. Down the drain. I'll only attend my Shamrock Rovers games then.

Ukraine is ok to be politicised though?
