Gerrard and Lampard are better than Scholes - According to Jamie Carragher 'I have always said Steven Gerrard was born world class, whereas Frank became world class. That is not a slight. It should serve as an inspiration. He has had to contend with some knocks down the years but he kept bettering himself. His mental strength is one of his greatest assets. Frank has a catalogue of golden moments and, for that reason, I have him behind Steven but ahead of Paul scholes in my list of the Premier League’s top three English midfielders.' :o:o

These guys would beg to differ "Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team."
- Marcello Lippi

"Out of everyone at Manchester United, I would pick out Scholes, he is the best midfielder of his generation. I would had loved to play alongside him."
- Pep Guardiola

"He is the one whose level I aspire to. He is the best player in the Premier League."
- Cesc Fabregas

"At La Masia his name was mentioned a lot. He’s a teacher."
- Lionel Messi

"When we were in training, I used to do a lot of tricks which hardly any players at the club could do. Once I was showing my skills to Scholes. After I finished, Scholes took the ball and pointed to a tree which was about 50m from where we were standing. He said, I’m going to hit it in one shot. He kicked and hit the tree. He asked me to do the same; I kicked about 10 times, but still couldn’t hit it, with that accuracy. He smiled and left."
- Cristiano Ronaldo

When have you seen Gerrard run a game against top class opposition? Flat track bully. He'll run the show against the likes of West Brom, Fulham and, dare I sat it, Everton. Never seen him do it in a big game against the big guns

World class yet stayed at Liverpool his entire career and took the safe option

He's not on the same planet as the likes of Zidane,Cruyff,Laudrup or even Pirlo

Gerrard circa 2005 was one of the best in the world. Scholes is on another level to Lampard. Ridiculous choice by Carragher to put him above Scholes. It's between Scholes and Gerrard, but I'd go for Gerrard in his pomp as he just had everything and more and was, at times, unplayable.

Scholes is a class above both of them. They are both one trick ponies. Blessed with strength and a thundeorus shot as well as raking passing they love to start a move with a big hollywood ball then arrive on the edge of the box to hammer it in. All well and good in the carnage of a premier league game but in internationals you can't do that especially if both of them try and do it at the same time. Both players have always needed better technical players behind them to play that sort of way. Scholes is that better technical player. Left foot, right foot, long, short, deep lying or behind the striker he had absolutely everything. Even edging towards retirement when he was half fit he could just control a game with ease through his passing without virtually moving. There's a reason United won so many titles even with what epople thought were average teams. Carrick and Scholes could dictate the game against whoever they wanted with their passing, no one could pick up both of them. Funny how a succession of England managers have failed abysmally by selecting the media darlings that get the headlines for smashing in 30 yarders yet not one of them ever thoguht of putting in United's multiple title winning midfield - that is everything that is wrong with the English game. We want to keep the ball better yet have allowed one of the best in the game at that to retire and the best English midfielder at doing that at the moment can't even get in the team ahead of the multi failures Gerrard and Lampard and a half fit Wilshere.
