Cannot say he hasn't had chances.
He played all of pre season as a focal point of the attack and played in our early matches.

For whatever reason he just cannot make a starting place his own. He appears to have Pat Nevin levels of energy in that 90 minutes appears beyond his stamina level.

I actually thought his entire career thus far was summed up in the 45 at Sunderland.
He came on, played a couple of telling passes which got us a commanding lead, but then fluffed two absolute glorious counter attacks in the final 5 minutes, one we where 3 on 1 with.

He is talented and yet more so infuriating.
Those issues really should be ironed out by this stage in his career.

A year out on loan will be brilliant for him, he's got a load of talent which is clear. Just needs playing time. This tells me Ronald has eyes on more wingers

If he is going on loan I think Middlesbrough would be more useful than Milan, as he would at least get more experience playing in this country.

Sadly, the above is very true.

I really want Deulofeu to come good and prove us all wrong, but if he can't run round on a pitch without getting out of breath he's going to struggle to be effective in this country.

If you're looking to compare this lad with anyone then Steven Pienaar in his prime could well be the yardstick.

Nobody at the club had more tricks or control over a football and who could forget his almost telepathic relationship with Leighton Baines?

They supported each other from one end of the pitch to the other. In defence, when Baines missed it, Pienaar was there to cover.

For all the offensive skills he has to offer, Geri lacks the discipline to track back and identify the threats to his full back partner which is why he doesn't get too much game time.

It's a shame because I'd love him to have a great career at Everton. I like his outlook and his affinity for the club.

I would have liked to see him have a run of games to attune to the pace of the PL and start laying balls on a plate for Lukaku but until he learns how to play at both ends of the pitch he's going to be as much a liability as an asset and that's not good enough.

and i cant see a comparison to pienaar, he worked his socks off for the team, provided assists and scored. he was a complete winger thro and thro.

in the modern games these days it all about work rate. unfortunatly this is where he is lacking. i dont think you can coach workrate into certain individuals either, seems gerri maybe one of these.

and pienaar was everything gerri isnt. hard working, intelligent and scored aswell as assisting in his prime

While we're unfairly comparing him to very good players in there prime, I just had a quick look and never once in his career has Pienaar matched Del's productivity last season in terms of goals and assists in all comps.

But okay, that's football.

edit: defo right that Del could learn quite a bit from Peanuts tho.
