He can do things not a single other player in our squad can do - not just technically, but his vision too. Players who can do those things and work hard and can do it every week cost 50m+.

He's already shown signs of working much harder defensively and being able to last the full 90. He's 22, we bought him for peanuts and his wages aren't mental. I just don't see in what world it would be a good idea to give up already.

...I'm a huge fan and thought he might take off under RK but it's simply not happened. The team have been going nowhere for seasons so I'm not being compassionate about who stays or goes. If he wants a cull, I'll accept it. We need change and Koeman will be judged on how he manages that even if we disagree with steps along the way.

I feel similarly about Ross and Del. If they need to be taken out of the team for a while - so be it. But giving up on them entirely and shipping them out of Everton smacks awfully of short-termism, which is a route I've always been afraid of Everton going down. Goes against a bit of a club ethos I think.

I don't think anyone would disagree that a cull is needed, but I think most people would agree with hetion that it would be madness to get rid of him in it. Gibson, Cleverley, Lennon, Valencia and Jagielka should be ahead of him in that queue and you could make a good argument for Mirallas going as well.

Geri is different to Ross in that frequently (under both Martinez and Koeman) he is dropped after playing well, as well as when he was playing badly.

Off the pitch maybe.

On the pitch, some do and some don't.

It is not necessary to have all 10 outfield players working their socks off, or at least it shouldn't be.
Well this lad hasn't enough talent to get in our team and not be willing to graft. It matters not TBH as this is his 4th full time manger and non thus far have truly fancied, all of which had different styles and ideas on how the game is to be played. Yet he never gets consistently picked, I'd suggest there is a reason for that.

I hope that when koeman gets in some more of the players he wants Geri will get a bit more game time. Koeman obviously doesn't trust him in terms of his work rate but think if he gets the players he wants in midfield he will have more confidence in having a maverick in his front three. I really hope that if we get schneiderlin in and we play a midfield three with schneiderlin gana and a rejuvenated Ross Barkley covering the ground that Koeman will feel he has enough cover to unleash Geri.
As others has said he has ability that the rest of the squad can only dream of. Honestly think that if he was trusted for a run of six seven games you would see a different player and he would be scaring the life out of fullbacks again. Think the lad needs to feel loved and appreciated as one of the main men like for Spain u21s to get the best from him.

The Spain u21 argument isn't a valid one, top players are already in the full squad at his age. His u21 stats are good, but he's played enough games, much like Jeffers for Eng u21's. He got into one Spain full squad and has never been seen since, that suggests he wasn't fancied by yet another manager.

No surprise he can't get in full Spain squad as Arteta in his prime couldn't. I'm convinced someone is going to unlock the box of tricks in this lad and I really hope it's us. And with regards to your point about top players already being in senior squads, not necessarily. Zidane didn't make his debut for France until he was 22. I think the criticism of his fitness has been justified in the past and has been the main reason managers haven't trusted him along with his reluctance to work back. I think that there are signs of change in him though. He did work back and help against Watford and got through the full 90 without keeling over. I would sell most of the squad before him and persevere with working with genuine top class talent.

I hate writing youngsters off, can't quite understand what is happening with some of our bright talents, we have hyperbole them to a point they will never reach and only disappointment will be forth.

Got so much skill this lad, I really hope he comes good, with us may I add.
