Rather than the injury, I was referring to Martinez's referring to him as a sprinter and as such would need to 'fully recover' before he would return.

If I remember correctly, the estimates given at the time were reasonably below the time it actually took him to recover and return to the squad.

He seemed to be reaching fitness, but it was then extended due to being a 'sprinter' et al. Not saying it's the same, just it gave me deja vu.

Hopefully he will be back before the start of the season, yet going on experience of previous seasons I am not completely optimistic.

Indeed @Brennan, I just hope he isn't overly susceptible to these type of injuries.
We had to send him back to Barca for his recovery as he was their player so didn't have any control on when he came back.

Overall he was out for 8 weeks which is on the higher side of a grade 2 tear but not that unusual particularly for a young player - Messi had a lot of hamstring issues iirc that he was rushed back from too soon so understandable if Barca wanted to play it safe.

Tbh hope we do the same even if it means him missing the first couple of games.
