Apparently we made a last minute push for him, but the deal with Stoke was too far along (this has been reported by several MLS websites). Only reason I post it is because wonder what that last minute deal attempt means about Heitinga.

Disappointed really, I like my Americans at Everton more so than my Belgians even and this guy comes highly rated by our American posters, another way of raising our profile further amongst US soccer fans, midfield and centre-half as well, which tells me Heitinga was definitely gone if we signed this guy up.
