There's only one real Cahill!!!

Wouldn't mind his sons to be playing in the same Everton team at some time in the future though, if they follow in their father's footsteps.

He'd be a better option than Turner, Beech, Mensah or any other centrebacks we've been linked with.

He's only 23, hasn't been injury prone as yet, is defensively sound and a threat at set pieces as well...

I was as surprised as anyone else with his England call-up, but I'm really not going to question Capello's choices after all the years he's been in the game and the success he's had with England thus far.

But, if it's either him or keeping Lescott, I know what I'd like to see happen!...

Given that one of those centre backs is currently injured, another is off for the African Nations cup and the third is our only cover for left back, then yes. Yes, we do.

If Cahill is willing to go from being one of Bolton's main players to sitting on our bench then we should snap their bloody hands off. A top team needs quality cover.

Good player but surely, if we sell Lescott for £22m+, Bolton will cite that deal as having set a precedent and demand a similar fee for Cahill? We'd have to get silly money for Lescott for it to be worth our while.

I agree. We won't get him to come here and sit on the bench when they rely him on so much.

I just find the idea that we don't want him and shouldn't try to put in an offer baffling. We can't just buy players who'll fit into our first eleven even if everybody's fit. Top teams need top cover and we need another centre back even if we keep Lescott.

We'll just have to get one who isn't already a nailed on starter for a premier league club.
