Yes I was there.
At least we stood up to the RS in those days even if they were better than us. Great to see Bob Latchford squaring up with Souness.
Finished 2-2 .Recall us scoring an offside equaliser and Mick Lyons scoring an own goal by lobbing George Wood from the half way line!
Garry was a skilful player but never imposed himself on enough games.
Ii sat in the stand opposite main stand with my mate who is a red.We met up with his dad ,another red, after game to get lift home. I remember he was fuming about our offside goal and I just laughed at him so he wound his window up and he got my head lodged in the window. I saw him few months ago just before he died and we had a laugh about it.Agreed, he had a bit of a stuttering start here but became a blue that day throwing a few hooks at McDermott (I think).
Terrible times in the derby's though never known games so close going the way of the opposition so often. At least that game I got tickets for annie rd rather than the effin' kop, the day Fairclough come on and scored with a few mins left to win as me and the lads stood motionless amid mayhem in the kop will forever be a picture of hell.
Thank god for Andy King at Goodison.
Garry Stanley who played for us in the late 70's early 80's today reaches the big 60. Anybody remember him getting sent off in the Anfield Derby?
Happy Birthday fella, enjoy your big day

Trying to identify our players.
I think the 5 is Billy Wright and the 8 is Garry himself...
I think that might be Mick Lyons holding Big Bob back.
The goalie is Georgie Wood.
Is that King Andy wearing 6 that might be Eamon O'Keefe in between Georgie and Mick?
The boy keeping well out of it over on the wing.....Imre Vardi?
