Would be made up with Fabregas as I said but in terms of a deep lying cm who can firefight and play there arent many that immediately spring to mind. Schneidelin, Dembele from spurs, struggling to really think of anyone. I imagine Milner could do that job too but the mad german is trying to make him into a left back (what a massively underwhelming signing he would be and the fume on here would be immense but im sure he would turn out just as barry has). My worls football knowledge isnt what it was when I was 20 so struggling to think of players from abroad. I know others have held the flag for Strootman and Carvalho.

Carvalho is as close to Barry as you can get even down to not having much pace. His passing is fantastic and he's great at reading the game so while he doesn't have pace he's always were he needs to be. He's basically Barry 10 years ago but he's also far above our level at the moment. I'm really surprised a team like Utd didn't go for him since they are crying out for someone like that since Fellaini can't really be trusted there and Schweinsteiger, Carrick and Schneiderlin don't seem to be in favor.

Jeez, just goes to show how strong Utd's squad is.

Walsh needs a year or loan in championship and maybe even a year on loan for a bottom half premier side.

I think Koeman has identified that we are not a tall team and we concede a disproportionate number of headers.

I think it is going to be hard for smaller players to break through, especially in defensive positions including midfield anchor.

Our full backs are small too. When we had Steven's and Psycho............

Similarly to Mata, he'd be a big statement signing and an exciting addition. Similarly to Mata, chances are slim.

Actually, while Mata didn't make much sense when you consider the type of football Koeman encourages, Fabregas would be perfect alongside a tireless midfielder like Gueye. Just not sure if our stature is where it needs to be right now and I think a lot depends on whether the player wants to stay in England.

yep, i'd go for both in january. If we are still sitting in a very healthy position like we are now, we can just say to them, you're only going to miss out on half a season of champions league (mata's not even in it anyway) and you guys will be back there then with us next season.
