I don't believe we are after Gareth Bale and I doubt we have even asked about him.
But, people didn't think we could get Ancelotti and he certainly has raised our profile, signing Bale would raise our profile even higher.
I would imagine it is a topic that would be discussed on SKY a lot.
If you want sponsors you need a profile and that is something we have lacked for a long time.
We are seen as a safe middle of the road club and have been for many years now. When MS was sacked the level of manager that was being talked about as being suitable for our level said a lot about our standing.
Most pundits did not even consider a manager like Ancelotti for us, they were talking about Moyes or Howe.
Maybe we need something similar regarding attracting better players to our club.

The idea of Bale is like signing Gazza again...brilliant in a day consigned to history. I dont believe for a second we would consider it now.

I know he has a dubious record but some of that might be explained by the beef he has with the manager (being down as injured might be seen as better than being dropped - but I remember one time though ZZ said he was injured and Bale disputed this), whatever the fact it is good we didn't have internet forums when we signed Reid or Gray!
