TheNiz mentioned he works for EA. I work in the industry albeit in gambling and have worked on some mobile games before. Who else is in the clique?

The industry here in Finland is growing quite fast now with Rovio and Supercell leading the way while traditional studios like Remedy and Bugbear are doing fine.

I don't but get a lot of E-mails asking would I like to train up in it. For some reason I always imagined it to be massively tedious. It appears there's a lot of studio's going bust over here around Liverpool.

I've got a BTEC in Games Design.

I'm trying to find a way in without the uni route if possible.
At the moment I'm getting started making a game myself as a project, something I could tell employers about, and possibly even release if I put a lot of time into it.

At uni studying computer science with a view into the games industry as a career! :)

It's dying a horrible death in the UK -- Liverpool especially has lost its two major studios in the past few years -- but globally speaking it's ever-growing.

Software tester, so I dabble.

Games testing is primarily made up of annoying tits though, so I tend not to bother.

It used to be the lowest-point-of-entry in the business but I think it might've changed as most of the stupid testing seems to have been outsourced to India. The testers I know who still are in the business tend to be sound. What kind of testing do you do, mate?

I follow the UK scene a bit as I know a few people working in the industry over there, so I've noticed that. The good thing about games is that if you take one big company down it just spurs a few new smaller companies so I feel that the talent is not lost. UK used to do some of the best games and I reckon it'll continue to do that.

Mainly website performance stuff now, thankfully.

I usually hate every second that I'm forced to work though, so I try to avoid the other people. Most of them are pretty sound to be fair.

Nerds are generally sound.

The indie game scene is thriving now. The guys that are making games in their bedrooms now will no doubt be working on GTA 8 or whatever in a few years.

I'm constantly buying games like FTL, Hotline Miami and NeoScavenger that I'll hardly touch, just to support the developers.
