Our game in hand (away to Arsenal) could be key. If we won it we could overtake the Gunners, close to within 3 points of fourth-placed Spurs and put 6 points between us and Liverpool. And the task isn't as formidable as it has been in recent years for a number of reasons:

  • In recent matches at the Emirates Arsenal have been beaten by Bayern Munich, Blackburn and City, held by Liverpool and only narrowly overcame Villa, Stoke and Swansea.
  • Wilshere and Diaby's injury concerns mean that they are short on numbers in defensive midfield.
  • The last time that either Giroud or Walcott found the net in a league game was 6 matches ago in January.
  • Mis-firing Stoke are the only team in the league not to score at the Emirates since Christmas.

Blackburn, Swansea and Wigan have all won their in the last 12 months, so it is achievable. The last few seasons have been 1-0, 2-1 and 2-2. We just need to up our game a little bit.

You know what happens when we are asked to "up" our game don't you

It still gets me that we didn't win there in 2010. Great performance and an excellent goal by Pienaar. Had to be two ****ing deflected goals for them.

they are the luckiest team apart from the RS, amount of deflected goals/penalties they get to earn them the 3 points in matches is shocking.
