I have an incredible amount of doubt that this is going to happen, and even then wouldn't start.

I’m skeptical too. If we don’t sign a RB, then it’s fairly obvious play Patto at RB.

Yeah, I'm all for playing people in their correct position whenever possible. Having said that, I'd rather have Garner at right back than Patterson or JOB, but Garner is indispensable in midfield right now. So Patterson at right back I guess. We have no alternative to Myko at left back except the new lad who clearly has only one leg or something, so we won't see him play. Ever.

Not sure why we don't have any bright young lads who could give it a go though. Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea seem to have millions of them - tall, athletic, quick feet, great readers of the game at the age of about 11.

Anyway, we aren't going down this season, nor are we getting in Europe, so just try something different eh. But play a right back at right back and let O'Brien learn his trade at centre back.

Garner is definitely our best full back, but at the moment he's also our best midfielder and we're so weak there with injuries so I didn't include him in the options.

There was always going to come a point this season where RB became a problem area for us, but I'll confess I didn't think it would reach the point where Patterson was seen as a viable alternative

Probably matched or got closer to our offer and gave him a juicy signing-on bonus. The biggest upshot for him was that he wouldn’t have to uproot his young family, his agent played a blinder.
