Hi all!

I was wondering if someone could help me. I'm living in a rented property, and I've noticed that the fridge part of the fridge / freezer (Samsung RL33SBSW) isnt working properly. Its keeping food cold, but its dangerously close to the "danger zone" (6 degrees or higher... sorry, Food Teacher coming out!). The freezer works fine.

This is the first property I've lived in that isnt University quarters, and I've no idea where I stand with the Fridge Freezer! Am I responcible for the repair, or is the Landlord? Can anyone shed any light on what the problem with the fridge is?

Cheers.

may sound obvious i know but is there a dial inside the fridge which you can adjust for temperature settings ? if not then sorry no other ideas, if it's rented accomodation im sure the landlord is responsible if it's rented as a furnished property. hope this is of some help.

I've tried that - but to no avail. There is also switches on the front to control the temp. But it doesnt seem to work! :( Bad times. Will have to text the Landlord and see what he says.

Cheers mate. :)

Landlords mate, ring him and tell him before all your lentils defrost.

If it's the landlord's and it has just broken down (ie, you didn't fall into it in a drunken stupor) then he should be responsible for it. You may need to check your tenancy agreement though.

It won't be covered under your insurance so if he doesn't feel like replacing it, he may not need to (again, your tenancy agreement should state either way).

You can pick up fridgefreezers for next to nothing second hand though, even free from Freecycle if you're really lucky.

I once had the same problem, and got it sorted by filling the tubes in the back with sawdust thus resultibf in an extra layer of insulation. Have you tried that yet, mate?

If all the above fails, try emptying your fridge, packing it with sawdust for 28 hours before carefully removing. This should help.

Make loads of ice cubes in the freezer part and stock the fridge with them. this will keep it out of the 'danger zone'. Or just name it Luis Saha.
