Freddy Adu: Too much, too young for 'wonderkid'?

There's always something about African-born footballers that screams "never fullfils promise" to me, even people like Adebayor and Kanu seem a wee bit off the boil to me.

Maybe it's an attitude thing, like when they pretend to wipe dust of their shoulders and stuff, tits.

Fair play to his agent, spun a nothing footballer into a supposed 'world superstar', the lad's obviously wank, as he's had more clubs than Tiger Woods & he's still only in his mid 20's.

Each country and continent has markedly different attitudes to the game and life in general. For instance a lot of the greatest Brazilians of all time were as good as finished in top level football around 28.

Another big problem Adu has/had is he likes to party too much. When he was on loan with Aris, he'd post pics on twitter everyday of him at a different club. He parties a lot in Philly too. Only place he really worked hard was his half season in the 2nd level of Turkey (which got him a call up for the Gold Cup)

A guy who has similar issues to him is Benny Feilhaber (just a few years older). Benny showed a bunch of potential with Hamburger's reserve team, but he never developed at Derby, and had a great year with Aarhus after they were relegated in Denmark. Since moving to the MLS he's lost his starting spot to Ryan Guy and Lee Nguyen. But people still remember his goal in 2007 to win the Gold Cup against Mexico.

I bought into it myself. It was based on him destroying his own age groups on YouTube vids.

Looked nailed on to be the next Messi - it taught me to distrust limited videos of footballers for life!

Yeh most footballers can look good on youtube because they`ve nearly all done good stuff at some point. Thats why there professionals.Recon i would mess it up aswell if i was given a million pounds off nike at 14.
