Benitez had home games against the worst teams in the division. We had the easiest start to the season I can ever remember. Once that had gone he was the worst manager we've had since Mike Walker. Lampard is nowhere near as bad, and the team is playing with more belief.
Well he has the next 6 games to but it to bed on a factual level. Here's hoping.

Benitez's first 12 were after a full pre-season with a fully fit squad (at the very start when the results were decent), for the most part, and they still weren't very good.

The results were decent until the United game. That was it.

It's fair to compare the last games of the previous manager because that form is what meant the other bloke got appointed in the first place.
But then youn have to factor in new manager bounce etc etc. And other factors we can enter in to bend the narrative. We have 6 games now and then we will have a better picture. He can get us survival and statistically be better than Benitez in one go.

Additionally, Lampard inherited a squad that was already dejected and stuck in a series of playing terrible, limited football. He's got to unpick that.

Now, he may not have fulfilled that requirement as of yet, however that's a different discussion.

Not true. He would need to have the games Benitez had. Home to Southampton, who have the worst away record of any team outside the bottom 4. Away to Leeds, who barely won a game in the first half of the season, although we didn't beat them. Brighton away, who have scored way more points away from home. Home to Burnley, who I think have won one away game all season. Then thumped 3-0 by Villa. Then home to Norwich, who've been rank all season (although Benitez managed to lose to them later in the season). After that it was downhill all the way until the inevitable relegation that would have followed. Lampard came into a team low on confidence and after initially trying to get them to play on the front foot, which worked to a degree at home but not away, he and the coaching staff now have the team looking more organised. He had to start from a much lower base than Benitez.

Burnley's new manager however shows it ain't always so tricky, even when the guy before was there for 10 years...

Like I said, the effectiveness of Lampard is another discussion. I think with Jackson and Burnley, he's got them playing like Burnley know how to play.

It's engrained and needed finding again. Lampard has a squad who lack identify and any real style and perhaps aren't suited for what we need.

Do you think the author also wants Aston Villa relegated as they are managed by Gerrard?

Something tells me he probably doesn't!
Again, the “I want them relegated because…” narrative is trashy clickbait. I’d imagine he feels the same about the appointment of Gerrard though, to be fair, at least he achieved something of note at Rangers to semi justify his consideration.

Does it have to? If someone is objectively wrong for the role, that argument isn’t invalidated if the person putting the argument forward doesn’t have an alternative in mind. The club has a committee to determine such things and I think they got it wrong. Was a better candidate among those considered? Who knows.
The club wished to appoint Martinez as first choice, Pereira as second .
So no, there was no better candidate under consideration.

Everton were 16th when Lampard took over. We are 18th now. He has played every formation going in this period. Does he know what he is doing? Pretty sure he is taking us down.
He knew what he was doing to get the wins he’s had, same with getting the point against Leicester. He also set us up great against both City and yesterday. What can’t be legislated for is not getting pens v Southampton, City and the RS or having Allan sent off v Newcastle
