Four long-running Everton transfer sagas…

I remember Paul Scharner having the brutal combination of always scoring/playing great against us AND being linked to us every bloody year.

Startling omission of Manuel Fernandes. Dragged out from the moment he arrived in January, until the last seconds of the window, when despite being in Liverpool, somehow managed to do a runner to Valencia. Only trumped by his return a year later, where it all started again.

Ridiculous.

He was with us for a time though so probably doesn't count as we essentially did "get" him for a period of time.

Yeh, but Moutinho is signing in January.

I was posting in the Blueroom during that first heady Moutinho summer...every other thread title was a simple "Moutinho" followed by some half-arsed and badly-written opinion. No thread mergers or locks. I'd cringe at the mere sight of his name.

Banega, tho'.

I remember back in Moyes early days we kept getting linked with Sean Davis of Fulham, he got injured and we didn't sign him, then he got fit and we were linked again, then he went to Spurs, but it didn't work out, we were linked again, he moved to Portsmouth, was there for 3 seasons, we were linked with a move every transfer window, then when he left on a free we were linked again, but he went to Bolton! He retired at Bolton in 2012, so we rarely get linked with him these days

Riquelme is the king of the transfer sagas though, over so many years, it's hard to see one beating that to be fair.
