...I don’t mean to sound flippant, but that isn’t anything new. In the 80s Derek Mountfield used to say it was the ‘Anfield Worm’ that brought their players down in the box.

The Southampton lad got a deserved straight red card today. Ashley Young did an almost identical tackle in the following match and received a yellow. A clear example of the unconscious bias that exists.

You constantly hear ‘any kind of contact in the box’ but then its different all the time. A coming together in the middle of the pitch will be given a foul but not in the box. Its a big problem when you get two people looking at the same thing and come away with different conclusions.
