Foreign players in the starting eleven

I know it’s probably happened before, but I noticed today Chelsea started with no British/Irish players. You just wouldn’t see that in any of the other top leagues. I would hate us to go down that route, I think you lose a “connection” with your team.

Surely there should be a requirement to field a minimum number (3 say?) of British/Irish players? Is there a rule of some sort on this, or is it the amount in “the squad”? I can’t see how home grown players are going to get a chance to improve unless that requirement is in place.

Sevilla and Inter Milan have done it.

This is why I don't follow European football competition (apart from it no longer being on the telly). There is no British team to follow.

Don’t forget General Stupidity in all this
Errrrr, I said I would prefer us not to go down the Chelsea route. We haven’t. I’m talking about finding and developing young players. With Chelsea’s attitude, the players you’ve mentioned wouldn’t get a look in, which is my point.

But as you’ve brought up money, remind me how much we’ve blown on overseas flops? Most of whom we can’t shift.

Martinez, Koeman and Silva to start with..,
