Foreign Fans

Apologies in advance for bringing this topic here today, but I've been wanting to talk about this for while with my fellows on this forum.

Everton FC are like my family. I was born in the Czech Republic and I still live here. Still I grew up watching our games, playing computer football games as only EFC, always went training with my Everton kit in my local football club here. I love hearing, reading and talking about long stories about the history of the club, the battles, the social issues, the culture of Merseyside and Everton position in it, the greats. I try to meet with other our fans here in my country, to watch games together, to take a trip to watch us in England once in a while.

And now I have a felling, that if you love watching the game and love watching Everton, great, but it becomes a problem when you go against that history and think you as an overseas adopted fan have equal entitlement as the families who have been going to the match for the last fifty, even hundred years, equal weight and importance as the kids growing up around Goodison. I always feel bad when I see our fans laughing at LFC fans that they are plastic, Norwegians, etc.

So I wonder, what is your real view on foreign Everton fans? Do you see foreign Evertonians as one of us or do you see them as an other type of Everton fans? Do you see them as a positive or negative for the whole club? Thanks for your opinions.

If you're foreign and support them you're a plastic. If you support us you're part of the family. Just don't buy half and half scarves

I am an Irish Blue might not have been born in Liverpool but I've been blessed to call myself and Evertonian, we all well outnumbered in this country by Reds and Utd fans but I wouldn't change it for the world. I cringe at times when I see us foreign fans get stick, don't appreciate being labelled in the same bracket as kopites in any shape or form.

Fair dues to you for following Everton and travelling to goodison that takes effort and expense. Keep spreading the Gospel of Everton.
Thats because most micks are thick and only follow United and RS because they are like sheep.

I'm an American. Part of my family came here from England shortly after the Jamestown colony. Some came later from England. They came from the south coast, Devon, or the area around Liverpool and Manchester.

I also had anestors come from Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Frankly, I'm probably as 'british" if the govt did DNA tests as a lot of those with citizenship and more so than many others.

Did I 'choose" Everton? Yes, I did. Am I glory hunter? No I'm not. I love this club.it is my club., Win or lose!

Let's clarify something. The reason we call Liverpool fans plastic is because they're glory hunters. All of the foreign ones are just victims of false hype, created every season by media in every country trying to make their club the best in the league once again. They all fall for the hype and become just as deluded as any English Liverpool fan.

Why aren't Everton's foreign fans plastic? The main reason, and although this may hurt, is that we have no reason to support Everton. Want to win now? Chelsea or City. Want history? Liverpool. Want the most successful club? United. Want a London based club that isn't Chelsea? Arsenal, or even Spurs if you're mad.

So Evertonians really are chosen. It's a curse, or a blessing depending on how you view it.

I'm from the south of England, but been a Blue since the age of six. I've got nothing but respect for someone who follows our club from abroad, particularly when they are able to make it over for games. I only make it up 2-3 times per season, despite it 'only' being a 4-5 hour journey each way. That said, it's still far more frequently than the Manure and RS plastics I have to deal with down here.

...I think it's brilliant that fans abroad 'choose' Everton. It's so much easier to follow Man United, Chelsea or Liverpool so I think our foreign fans are special. You should definitely feel part of the Everton family, Zaschrona.

all wools can koff

seriously though you have to be a bit of a mentalist to support a club that hasn't won anything for 22 years and for most of that time hasn't looked likely to win anything. i don't know why i support everton - by location i ought to support Ajax but i can't stand them, kopites of the Eredivisie. Best i can explain is it just feels right, i don't feel the need to defend it because what other reason is there to support Everton?

Foreign fans are always welcome. (This might change when we achieve world domination and everybody jumps on the band wagon)
As other posters have said, we have very few 'glory hunter' foreign fans and yet we still appear to have a fair following from quite a few countries.
Forza Everton.

Imagine having any allegiance to that kopite Ronnie Moore though.
Imagine *smirks to self
