I don't even see the need for a goverment, all those political parties, and all, bunch of boring inept expletives, and while we're at it, do away with the royal family, just round up every member, every associate, and put them in a big incinerator or such. :dodgy:

What purpose do these people serve, especially the latter, the Queen only makes an appearance when it suits her, front page story last month of her taking a train to Norfolk or somewhere, as her majesty 'wants to do her bit to save the planet or be a bit greener' , and we get a front page exclusive on this rather trivial chicken litter.

I guess when Harry becomes King, and I won't be around to see it, the drugs laws will be more relaxed and cannabis will become legalized, and the legal age of drinking will drop to fourteen or something if he has his way. Any fighting on the streets or unruly behavior will be rewarded rather than punished and those guilty will get a trip to Chessington World of Adventures than a night in the cells.

I don't really want to talk much more on this issue, others have spoken much more eloquently than I can manage right now, just wanted to vent some frustrations that's all.

I keep an open mind. I look at what I think is best for me, my family, people of Britian and the country never would I urge anyone to vote a particular way it is for each to decide.

I did in fact vote for Blair to get rid of John Major and his failed policies but I do not slavishly follow any particular party or their doctrine. I am neither Labour, Conservative or Lib Dem.

Labour have hardly covered themselves in glory recently but it could be worse.

By worse, I mean the Tories. Anyone from a working class background considering putting them aloof bunch of tits back in has a very short memory and needs to consider swerving The Sun for a while, preferably permanently.

You should ask yourself how was it Thatcher became Prime Minister apart from the obvious that her party won more seats than Labour.

We had a Labour Government but they got the country into a bit of a mess. Their spending plans outstripped the tax revenues so they borrowed big. It got to a point where we could not do the usaul borrowing anymore and the government went to the IMF with its begging bowl. The IMF said yse we will lend you what you need but strings are attached. We devalued the currency and cut back on public expenditure and the biggest hit was on public sector pay. This led to a series of events now known as the Winter of Discontent. Dear old Jim Callaghan called a general election and lost thus letting Thatcher in.

As I said you should ask how Thatcher became Prime Minister.

We're back to the time when Jim Callahan was boarding a plane to go to an international conference but had to get off before it took off to deal with a crisis with the IMF at the door.

Replace "Jim Callahan" with Gordon Brown and we've come full circle.

far from being on my jollies mate, working 14 straight 12 hour shifts in holland, did that for about a year.
you have to work to survive, when you emigrate you are often putting everything you have into it and start again from scratch, then you end up having to work the shifts that nobody else wants cos you are new, they still have unemployment in these places so you aren't alone in looking for a job, we both worked 12 hour nights on a crap wage for the 1st year.
i got a job that tbh i'm amazed i got, the hand of fate waved my way really and as well as being as well paid as i could get over there, there was plenty of overtime which they needed me to do, towards the end of the year my manager said that his boss had said to stop my o.t. for a spell so that i wouldn't earn more than him, he wasn't arsed if i did cos he knew how many hours i was putting in. twas a good job, i didn't arse around and i'm certain it would've led to better things, although with plenty of cash i was happy as i was.
again after we came back it was start from scratch with no money left due to havin' to spend it all, again it was a case of having to work daft shifts to get back on our feet. it's the only way you can earn a decent wage in engineering these days, plus employers pay crap knowing that you can get tax credits to boost your income, which they used to do with the old system as well.
even these days, if the phone rings tonight i have to go to work, no matter what time it is.

from what i've seen it's the 4 years at uni that was jollies.

i still get election papers arriving from new zealand with a postal voting form, i don't vote though as it's nothing to do with me unless i decided to go back. i voted just before i left, with the decision based on who would help the people i knew the most.

Crying.

Clearly didn't see the hidden text. Was joking, knew you'd get a rant in though mate (y)
