Hey guys,
USA-based fan here. (Don't kill me. Go Donovan!) My wife and I are visiting the UK for the first time and fulfill our lifelong dream of watching the Toffees at Goodison Park. We're flying into London.
What's the best and/or cheapest way of getting to Liverpool (and also to the stadium) from London? And the best way to get tickets for the Euroleague match on Feb. 16?
Thank you for any help. I can't wait! COYB!

its about 200 miles away is London, so probably by train. Is the fastest.
Try Virgin Trains for prices.
Taxi from the tain station will cost about £5 maybe less.

As for tickets, probably Ticketmaster.com not sure you can buy match tickets on there. If not you have to ring the club.
Try buying a cheap phone card for 5 dollers to call, will be cheaper then making the call from your phone(probably)

Personally I'd get an internal flight rather than getting the train. Although it's been a few years since I left the UK the prices between the train and the budget airlines used to be pretty similar. Ryan-air, EasyJet etc all fly from London Airports to Liverpool John Lennon.

To be safe I'd pre-order your tickets through the official website and then collect the tickets from the box office on the day. While there are tickets available on the day you may be left with the famous Goodison Park obstructed view seats.

Hope this helps a bit (y)

Flying to Manchester would be easiest. But if not train from London will be fastest and probably cheapest way to Liverpool. Assuming you get off at Lime street station then you can either get the Bus from queens square bus station which is a one minute walk away (follow the mass of Everton shirts), or get a taxi (it'd be more than £5 IMO on matchday especially). As for tickets then i'd reccommend ordering them through the site, then you get to pick your exact seat aswell.

Great info to see in this thread as I hope to make my first visit when I travel over to the UK again in Sept. 2010.(y)

Tickets will go on general sale on Wednesday 3rd February.

So try and ring up as early as you can on that date, im not sure on time differences, but what ever time it is where you are, try and ring as near to 9pm BST, so as to stand a chance of more choice with regards tickets.

Pretty much what everybody else has said, I would personally get the train from London to Liverpool. And you will probably need to book a hotel in Liverpool as well, as I cant see many trains taking you back after the game, but I could be wrong.

It would be best to book your train tickets in advanced and collect them from the train station. You can get online discounts, and the earlier you book them, the cheaper they will be - you also reserve a seat just encase its busy.

For a return ticket to Liverpool, early booking should be around the £30-£40 mark each.

Best to go online on the transpennine site or Virgin trains site and see what they are doing.

All the advice you've been given is good - if unhelpfully inconsistent. Train or plane. Book the match in advance.

Welcome to the UK, brother blue.

Welcome to Goodison Park.

Have a great time at the centre of the known universe. Be sure to visit Dean's statue for the obligatory family photoes.

if you have time use megabus only £1.00 each way silly money but book in advance this is by bus so may take awhile(y)
will need to travel the day before though.

get in early for the tickets, as it's a special occasion, don't go for anything that says restricted or obstructed view, all depends what you are after as well really, i.e do you want to be close to the pitch ? do you want to be behind the goal, do you want the best view of the game possible, unfortunately our ground won't give you all of these and you may have to compromise a little.

be sure to come back when you know what you are doing as you can generally find someone who'll be up for a pint before the game, the early kick off is a bit of a burden though with this fixture.

Welcome. As I said to another GP virgin, when you hear Z cars live for the first time, I willl GUARANTEE that your hair will stand up on ends. It is an experience that you will never forget.

You are so going to enjoy every second of it, The anticipation, The Z cars theme, The result (hopefully) The satisfaction after.

Your making me jealous about going to that game might have a look at flights.

I'd also recommend going on the 'yellow duckmarine' tour, the tour guide had me laughing start to finish.
